I think the only thing that annoyed me with that new starting area was when I had heirlooms equipped and I kept getting spammed with "YOU GOT A THING! EQUIP THE THING!". How about...no. lol Even so, it's a solid starting area in my opinion.Something like WoW's lvl1-10 intro area. That whole new area blows ff14's hall of novice out of the water.
-A whole area dedicated to the teaching you the ropes
-A intro area that's part of the ongoing story/expansion
-It teaches you about your abilities as you progressive in the area
-It finishes off with with a dungeon that teaches you about your role in a dungeon/raid
Then after finishing the dungeon, it leaves you off right in front of the capitol city of your race to start adventuring. FF14 can easily do something like this if they wanted to. Just rework the hall of novice to instead be solo area that forces you to learn mechanics and what your abilities do. If they can make new areas like eureka and bhojza, they can dedicate the time and resources to make a new mandatory training area.
