The core technical systems are the issue, if they had an easier, more cost efficient way of maintaining our races, along with all the other updates for this game, we could see more things, like male viera and female hrothgar. Heck, it's apparently too difficult to add stubble for male characters! Hopefully the graphical update in the future alleviates some of these issues.
Oh yeah we're in full agreement / understanding of the why and how. I was just saying if it was either /only/ viera (both) or /only/ hroth (both), to me it makes sense they did the split then (as then you hit the biggest groups). I really feel Hrothgar being so beast like filled in a space that was previously entirely unfilled (Roe are not beast, they're just very big boys lol) and clearly Viera was just fan desired because Viera are Viera. Obviously the most player loved option would be all of the above, but seeing as technical limitations are such a hurdle it seems like they weren't going to do that ever no matter what (or it was so expensive they might only and only if they could see it was worth the cost). On the whole hair issue I still think they should offer both of these races a sort of free fantasia via the barber that only works for within their own race (so Hrothgar can get around their face bound to hair issue). Can make it even more strict by saying it works within the clan only too. Naturally then all mogshop hair (at least), imo, should always be available on all races.

But all that wraps around to why I hope for either major technical / code infrastructure changes for FFXIV or they're calmly and well making a new mmo in the background (not to be announced now, but when it is announced it wont be rushed or be a FFXIV 1.0 repeat of issues).

I still wish they'd gone with this beautiful concept for a full Viera race:

Naturally still getting both would be neat, but I have to think it goes back to the core technical systems being an issue (just like the challenges involved with housing, glamour, and other like systems, such as mogshop items having trouble being account bound sometimes). All that of course is why once the MSQ story is done (6.0), I'm kind of hoping for either MAJOR improvements to the core of FFXIV or hoping they're working on another mmo to be released. I mean look at how long it took to make chocobos not mess up DF lol. The game is very fun and a good mmo, and it is absolutely amazing given where they came from (the ARR crunch and all), but we very often hear the challenge to ideas is not their imagination but the game itself.
New mmo is a no go. Yoshi said they have no plans for one in the foreseeable future. One can hope after 6.0 they’d fix their crappy core systems but who can say. My problem with the split is like, they supposedly pre plan everything and if i’m not mistaken, the only reason hrothgar were to be added is because yoshi p wanted a beast race. If they do indeed pre plan everything, why not make either hrothgar or viera a full race and then see what the future holds as they’re doing now. It just seems like they tried to cut costs especially seeing as how little attention both of the races currently have gotten aka none.

I mean the foreseeable future can simply be the next two years. Yoshida has been on a number of occasions been sly with wording. Even if he said he will stick to FFXIV 'fo lyfe' doesn't mean SE wont make one either.

(Not that I'm saying it's for sure either, I just don't like boosting stuff based on overconfidence lol- I've seen it fail quite a few times especially in context of what'"Yoshida has said', in the sense that he did do what he did say but someone took it way too far, or immutably for indefinite periods of time).

I'm personally ready for more choices too. Even 1-3 more options would be great. My hopes and bets are placed on 6.0 honestly. SE generally keeps their promises it just takes them a million years to come through.

just looking at the trailer of 16 shows us that there is a high possibility many developers from 14 are currently working on 16. (art style for example - just the feel of the game gave me ff14 vibes) yoshida being the producer of both games further supports my concerns. the story of shadowbringers was phenomenal, but content seemed a bit dry recently (even before covid), and i’m probably looking too much into this but i think it‘s a possibility that it’s connected to 16’s development.

it just buggs me sometimes, seeing ff7 remake getting a beautiful graphical upgrade just a year into the game (i‘m hyped - don‘t get me wrong) but at the same time it seems it‘s an out of the world thought getting just a small graphical upgrade for 14 because „spaghetti code“ and „limitations‘...

I have heard this. Many of the veteran devs of FFXIV are actually working on that new FF game. Great for them (their careers), but not really for this game.

Yep. It's been so long, I have doubts we will even see anything, frankly. "Look forward to fanfest", I'm not holding my breath though. I think viera/hrothgar, just aren't high on their list of importance. I wish they would be a little more transparent.

Out of anything to look at for what possibly has us in the current situation I think this is likely the case. If I recall correctly, isn't it known information that a number of XIV's developers are actually working on XVI? If so, that could also explain ShB's being a little dry content wise. It's probably a management issue and manpower (people) are an important resource. The thing that I'm seeing from this whole thing that's been kind of irking me is the communication between SE and the player base. They have no choice but to leave us with vague statements for the sake of PR, but at the same time that leaves the players confused and speculative. Something I've noticed on these forums are the many users suggesting to "cut this content" or "cut that content" in favor of content they enjoy (That thread about the Ultimate raid being cut comes to mind).

Players are arguing amongst themselves and blaming the lack of content on existing content despite SE being better about managing everything on their plate before the current situation. And this might be the cynic in me but I think corporations like it when players start blaming the lack of content they enjoy on content that other players enjoy (Particularly in games like this where content updates are needed to keep the game alive and attract new players). It allows them to just easily handwave any grievances the player base has and make it seem like "Oh, they didn't want this, so we don't need to put forth anymore resources towards it."

They're really pushing people's patience. The moment one of its competitor's gets things right XIV might have its biggest loss ever. Think about what would happen if a game like Genshin Impact decided to add a good character creator (probably won't, but just a hypothetical). Or if Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis turns out to be the funnest "open world" mmorpg? Or if Blue Protocol actually shocks the mmo world with a deep story and a great mmo environment?

Don't get me wrong I like XIV, but the suits and ties at SE are taking people's "loyalty" for granted. It's not so much that we want them to do what's physically impossible, it has more to do with where resources are being diverted to such as FFXVI, VII Remake, and Avengers? The cow can be milked but that cow can one day run away when it sees tastier grass on the other rancher's side.

couldn't agree more! If you are not going to do something right. Don't do it at all. If you know you can't make the new races as they should be... don't bother making them from the start.
