What sort of social events does your FC have?

Hi all!

I'm an FC leader on Cactuar and I'm looking for some advice. My FC has two social events each month. I don't mean mount farms or map days (we do those too) but I'm referring to social events and contests, things that even level 1 players are able to participate in.

Right now we rotate between trivia nights, costume contests, hide-and-seek contests and name-that-tune trivia nights. All of these contests are using in-game tools. I've toyed with the idea of having nights where we all play another game together (like Among Us for example) but I've decided I want our FC to be strictly for FFXIV.

That all being said, I'm wondering if anyone else out there might have an FC that also runs little contests/events like these and what sorts of events you have? I want to diversify what we offer but I'm having a hard time thinking of additional events.

I used to be in an FC that would have mount race events. We would have it in the housing areas, and have a 'race track' set up so we knew the route, then limit it to four or five laps. The mounts all had to be similar, unless everyone had the motorcycle, then everyone could use it (the inherent speed buff built into that mount) but otherwise, it was normally chocobo racing. You wouldn't think that it would be competitive, but it was actually a lot of fun and the outcome was always different every time we ran it. The reward was picked by the FC leader and was normally a housing item that was hard to get (use the maps to collect some rare things to use as rewards) or rare materials.

You could also put your workshop to use and have a competition to see who can donate the most common materials for a project. For the reward, a winner could be awarded the project like the housing project items for their house, or reward them a mount or something if they don't have one yet. Rewards could also be outfits that are crafted, or bought or won from Firmament.

Distant worlds every couple years. Other than that, just random map nights or w/e we feel like doing. There's only 6ish of us, and we've all known each other for years.

Here are some of the events we like to hold:


Guess the Orchestrion.
Someone plays an orchestrion scroll and everyone has to buzz in to say where it plays.
They type buzz into the chat in order to buzz in, cuz then we can clearly see who buzzed first.

HoH/PotD races.
Split into two teams and have each team race through the deep dungeon 10 floors at a time.

Naked EX fights

Mount farming

Maps

Making team glams.

Human dart throwing.
Jump off something tall and see who lands closest to a target.

Triple Triad tourney

Hide and seek!
This is especially fun in large houses. Pick a large house no one has entered before and give the hiders a 4 min head start.

Mine usually goes out and farms FATEs, levels random things, does maps, fashion contests, random silly stuff, and then we-

I have no FC. I was in one that was in the middle of dying when I first started, and a long time later joined one that almost never interacted with each other.

There is no MM in this ORPG for me.

My fc kinda sucks and they usually have very segregated events rather than one big one since its too huge to do such a thing, as a result it feels like a giant linkshell rather than one coherent Free company. But ive been in many and have had tons of events besides the usual maps and doggo/dragon farms we did stuff in the Gold saucer to grind for glams or mounts for a hour or two, did epic hide and seek matches in the hinterlands which id strongly not recommend if your fc is smaller scale. HOH and POTD is usually fun for fcs. But honestly if u have the imagination and the friends nothing in the game is a bore.

My FC alternates rp events every other week. One week is shop night. Our FC house is a bookstore and cafe and we open it up for people to come visit and rp.

On alternating weeks we do OWLS, which is a DMed adventure type thing where one of the FC leaders runs missions for our characters to undergo.

The usual runs of things together. Spontaneous farming & maps and such.

We have a contest about every other month - the guy in charge of it does a different one every time and gets feedback on other types of contests we could do (glamours, FC room decorations, IRL cooking of FFXIV food, etc are some we've done). Those have been a lot of fun.

We also have a thing in our FC of peaching each other. Lord help you if you go AFK somewhere in the world. The rest of us on at the time will hunt you down, take pics in varying degrees of dress and post it on our discord. It's become quite the game lol! If you think you may go afk, you try to hide in a place where no one can find you. This wasn't something that was ever planned, it happened once or twice as a gotcha and then it just took off and took a life of its own.
