Do you think after Endwalker there will be time travel?

So being that the story started during ARR will end do you think your character will time travel or will be ‘reincarnated’ into a new story realm?

For example the new story taking place in a future like world like Final Fantasy VII or VIII? Final Fantasy XIV has a lot of throw backs to Final Fantasy III.

I would love to see a future world remade like ARR and see what this world would look like in the future.

Actually the current story started with FFXIV version 1.0 - ARR was it's continuation as well as it's reboot (it picks up five years after 1.0 ended).

As for how the story direction will go after EW, I suspect the Ascians will remain a problem, but the world will no longer be at risk of Calamities/Rejoinings (because I'm pretty sure the 'final boss' will be
Zenos-possessing Zodiark and so Zodiark will be ultimately destroyed for good). Part of me suspects the 'cast-off' future timeline of the now-never-to-occur post-Eighth-Calamity timeline will probably figure into it, now that we know it's now a seperate reality and hasn't disappeared like G'raha thought it would.
But nothing is known for certain.

There's already too much time travel.

I would not rule out eventually visiting the apocalyptic alternate future that the Crystal Tower teleported into Norvrant from.

Alternatively, a time skip between expansions could be useful for setting up a new locale. For example, imagine if we could visit 100 years in the future, where a more modern city in the New World is our new hub.

I suspect that eventually we will visit the New World, but without a time skip it would be basically "colonial era". A time skip would allow us to have a fantasy version of something closer to modern America, if they wished to go that route.

No. I think like in most other games, books, tv series, etc., the story will simply come to a conclusion and another one will begin.

There are still enough unanswered questions that I don't think they'll need time travel to fill in the gap.

    * What caused the End of Days?
    * We know the dragons and Omega came via the interdimensional rift. What else is out there?
    * Are any of the other worlds visitible besides the First? Is the elemental warping of the World of Darkness reversible, like it was on the First?

This is actually a plot point in the Lvl 80 quest line you unlock by finishing all four Lvl 80 role quests. The theory is that yes, you could theoretically fix the Void, but it will take a lot of work.

I would say that since fixing the Void is the plot point of an ongoing series of side-quests, it probably won't become part of the main story quest. I wouldn't rule out going to other shards, though.

I think we've firmly shut the door on time travel as used in Shadowbringers, and that mechanism of reaching other shards.

And a timeskip or reincarnation would be impractical and go against the usual "flat time" mechanism of sidequests from different stages of the game all being equally present. Unlike the transition from 1.X to ARR which was permanent and one-way, you need to still have access to all this side content.

I don't see it working. I think we're just going to continue as we are, and set off on a new adventure.

Time travel couldn't even accomplish anything considering that they've established that XIV operates in a closed time loop which makes it impossible to actually change anything because everything already has been changed.

Some sort of time skip forward would be fine, as would some way to temporarily visit past events (not time travel but just experiencing the event). Actual time travel where you're jumping back and forth and actually changing things and messing around with the time line, though, would not be good.
