Is a relic worth it?

I've heard about Bozja a lot recently and when I was doing some Googling I noticed that there is a system called relic that is tied to it. From what I've gathered, a relic is a powerful weapon that is extremely grindy to get. However, I'm not sure if it's worth the time to get the relic. Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of relic?

it depends what you want out of a weapon and if you raid.

If you don't raid but do want stats, then its the best weapon you can get once 5.5 hits. So it could have a niche if you're waiting for 5.5 to come out to jump straight into e12s once lockouts are finished (if you want the mount for example)
If you raid chances are there will be nothing to use it on before 6.0 assuming you got your edernmorn weapon unless you're a parser.

If you're a glamour person, by all means do it if the weapon is to your liking. If it isn't then its really not worth the bother.

am on my third relic weapon and it gotten a lot easyer to do of the three quests after the first relic you only have to do two of them the first and last and the drop rate in palace of the dead has gotten a lot better to finnish out the weapon and if you have to redo the stats just go buy some aeterial sealant from npcs with poetic

You don't need the relic because you can get a weapon of the same item level for much less effort by beating the current extreme trial. You can get a weapon of nearly the same item level by purchasing the crafted one from the market board.

For a higher item level weapon you can spend 7 weeks doing the normal raids to get what you need, or do the savage versions of those raids.

It's mostly about glamour, customizable stats, the brief times it's actually a better weapon and just giving you a reason to bother doing the content associated with it. If you don't have much time you can settle for the crafted one and you'll be fine.

all of those weapons, despite item level variance, are at best equal, or unequivocally worse weapons than the current relic. 515 + 3 maxed substats beats out 520 with poor substat distribution, 515 with 2 standard substats & 2 materia slots, or 510 with standard substats, 2 materia + 3 materia overmelds.

Relic can be a decent weapon for the patch it's in, but will ultimately be outclassed by any new gear from the next major patch, or the savage weapon from the current patch.
They're mainly sought after as glamour.

That said, during downtime, it's common for people to grind out a relic, for achievement's sake.
Given that this iteration of the relic is tied to Bozja, it would be advisable to do it now rather than later, as Bozja engagement will only decrease, making it harder to grind out in the future. Similar to the last expansions relic and Eureka.

Basically, if you don't give a damn about glam or 'casual' achievements, ignore it. If you think it's something you will want to have done in the future, do it now.

Additionally though, the Bozja content is pretty meaty story content in it's own right, and similar in scope to an Alliance Raid series like Return to Ivalice. (which it in fact leads on from directly) So even if the weapon itself doesn't interest you, the content itself might be worth running at least once for the story.

Sad, but true. I imagine these relics will become harder to obtain than even the eureka weapons. As far as I am aware, Castrum won't even pop unless there are a specific amount of qualifying players in a zone. I cannot believe SE thought any of this was a good idea.

If you want it for the glamour, yes. Otherwise I don't think the time investment is worth it, unless you just happen to enjoy the content anyway so it's not a grind doing all that Bozja/Fates/raids etc to finish it.

Relics to me are sort of a "story weapon". What I mean is I'm doing them mostly for lore reasons or the story attached to it, or I'm doing it for glamour. There's no real "worth" to it other then my own worth attached to it.

Not in the slightest, unless you really enjoy all the content involved in the grind.

God, I miss relics that could be done solely in DF roulettes plus a few open-world FATEs.

uhhhh yeah it glows and glamour is the real end so yes it is definitely worth it. Also go do the relics for the other expansions as those weapons look awesome too.
