Is a relic worth it?

I've heard about Bozja a lot recently and when I was doing some Googling I noticed that there is a system called relic that is tied to it. From what I've gathered, a relic is a powerful weapon that is extremely grindy to get. However, I'm not sure if it's worth the time to get the relic. Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of relic?

I think it's worth it. Glamour is the true endgame. That aside, being able to customize stats and have more stats in general on your weapon is a bonus, and it can easily outperform the base Cryptlurker weapons depending on the job. It'll be BiS eventually.

No they don’t carry over from expansion to expansion and unless your into some serious raiding, where it might be replaced, then no. I get the base weapon for giggle but that’s it.

I would say no, its just for show and outdated pretty fast in terms of Gearlevel. However for glamour purpose i would check out the different relics from the expansions that are availible on a website, youtube or something and than deicde which one i wanna have and get it. For example i find all relics from that expansion pretty ugly so far and would never use them in glamour, but on the other hand i really like style of most relics from eureka (last expansion).

right now, due to customizable substats, the max of the current relic is BiS for all 3 of the game's ultimates. When we get the final step, presuming it follows prior versions, it will surpass the current raid weapons (Edenmorn) at the same item level but with customizable substats and more total substats than the Edenmorn weapons have, even with 2 materia 8 slotted in.

I would say yes as you don't mind a long grind. They tend to look really nice and are always the strongest weapons by the time they are done (at the end of the expac so that a bit of a moot point but still). I have done every relic quest line and usually enjoy them just be prepared for a huge time investment.

Also I like that that are strong enough that I don't need to upgrade my weapon until near the end of each new expansion. This has aloud me to make so nice gil selling the weapons the MSQ give you for free since I don't need them until I'm 1 or 2 levels from max

it depends what you want out of a weapon and if you raid.

If you don't raid but do want stats, then its the best weapon you can get once 5.5 hits. So it could have a niche if you're waiting for 5.5 to come out to jump straight into e12s once lockouts are finished (if you want the mount for example)
If you raid chances are there will be nothing to use it on before 6.0 assuming you got your edernmorn weapon unless you're a parser.

If you're a glamour person, by all means do it if the weapon is to your liking. If it isn't then its really not worth the bother.
