it can be an enjoyable diversion, but it's definitely not as much of a feature as in any other big MMO. i will say that the 3-team nature of Frontlines actually manages to keep my interest, though, much better than standard 2-team stuff.

By FFXIV standards, it's exceptional. We have extraordinary things like healers that have to heal, buffs and debuffs, some resource management. It's crazy.
I used to be really into WoW's PvP during MoP. Loved during RBGs and 3v3 arenas. Racked up a lot of vicious mounts and a few titles.
In FFXIV, I quite like doing my daily Frontline. I especially love the Coerthas and Naadam maps. Don't really like the Cartenneau and La Noscea maps. Also kinda disappointed that there isn't really a competitive Frontline scene. It's not like WoW where you can see your rankings, or earn really fancy gear. That's what the Feast is for, but... nobody does the Feast. From what I've heard it's just win trading at preset times. So you can't really hardcore do PvP in FFXIV like you can in WoW.
I don't. They didnt plan for it to ever be part of their game and decide to shove it in post release. I don't want half baked pvp in a MMO.
On frontlines. It has 2 main problems.People who tryhard for mounts but in the wrong way. They keep spamming nodes calls and dont understand its pvp and that to win frontline you need battlehigher later to contest nodes.Their calls uusaly result in splitting the newbies and the ones who actually know what they are doing in 2 usualy causing the enemy gcs to get fed battle high and then stomp them.
Then there are the people who feed on purpose. They come in for the xp bonus to level jobs.they dont care about winning or learning how to play. You will see them. They are the ones getting on mount and running to enemy base on purpose to feed and make game end faster. This should be a bannable offense and xp bonus should be removed from pvp. These 2 changes would vastly improve frontlines.
Along with being able to report the ones spamming node calls who have no idea what they are doing.
Feast is a different problem. The community is the most toxic in the game. Not to mention there is a lot of boosting and win trading.Ive seen some of the top 20 on my database deliberatly throwing matches to other people and then trying to frame others. There are also people getting into top 100 on different data centres. This is just wrong.it should be one reward per account.
Feast ranking system is also terrible because even though The season last a certain amount of time you have no chance if you dont spam queue the first few weeks. This is because most of the community get to desired number and then all stop playing at same time on purpose. It kills the queues and means nobody else can climb up in ranks. Its a bad system and needs a complete overhaul.
I personally dont like rival wings but its the best of the 3.best community and team work out of the 3.Apart from the recent revelation of the cheating expsosed with lifting the mechs above ground i have found no fault with it.I just dislike the idea of using robots in pvp.
Without some sort rock paper scissor system healers become invincible and not worth attacking. It should only take one person to take down a healer, but healers also should take a different role/type one v one. These 2 on one system BS is how you get stale fights with all 8 vs all 8 on and no one can break the stalemate.3 - Where to start here lmao... as if a single DPS killing a healer easily in PVP would be a good thing? This goes back to (2)- if the role of healers is to support a group (which I maintain it is) - then logically it should take at least 2 players (typically DPS) to focus them down, unless that healer is not properly using their skills.
I understand the point about role/paper /scissors . However, this game doesn't only have 1v1. If it did, then I would completely agree with you. In a 1v1 arena type setting then absolutely, a healer should be only an equal level - so that would mean the healer would have the DPS skills as well.Without some sort rock paper scissor system healers become invincible and not worth attacking. It should only take one person to take down a healer, but healers also should take a different role/type one v one. These 2 on one system BS is how you get stale fights with all 8 vs all 8 on and no one can break the stalemate.
However, if healers are in a team role then that would not be acceptable. -it doesn't make them "invincible" - it means typically that a healer gives up damage and the ability to get kills for the ability to heal through damage and support their team.
What you may call "bs" , if I read it correctly - I don't know how many pre-made PVP encounters you had that ran into a stalemate? doesn't really happen unless both teams are well-matched , and for me that is much more interesting that just running over a team and racking up a kill count - for what end lol? Just play COD if you want fast kills.
Feast is toxic because it pairs good players with worse ones making some games straight up impossible to win.
Also certain jobs like Black mage ,Dragoon and White Mage are just superior in there.

Borderline dead at this point. If I have to use a 3rd party app to find people to do an activity in a game, there's a major problem that needs to be addressed. Why SE still continues to waste resources on pvp I do not know. might as well get rid of it and instead bring the previous top 100 rewards to ultimates or extremes. Hell you can even bring the armor pieces as super rare drops in alliance raids.
This game has pvp?
