Or maybe -- just maybe -- I believe every word I said. And maybe -- just maybe -- the more I read through that thread the more I am convinced a certain group attracted weirdos we'd be better off without.

I can speak on behalf of myself as somebody who spoke in that thread.

My main defences were:
- I don't have a problem with people who engage in these activities lawfully.

- I didn't think the GM's were taking a stance against these advertisements existing in PF.

And I don't think your "go back to the shadows" argument is necessarily one that solves the problem, if you're concerned about the kids, as expressed earlier in this thread I can see some benefit in terms of moderation of a self policed community that's has a positive and open relationship with the GM's and moderation of the game to keep the creeps out. Because if anything these are going to be the people who spot creeps. Even then seeing these advertisements and having them reported also means GM's can investigate said venues for any wrongdoing. This was my interpretation of Yoshi P's comments on that matter, it sounds like they have a lot in the background for addressing any legal problems here.

"Out of sight, out of mind" just pushes things underground and doesn't address any problems, it's just convenient who people who don't want to see it.

But for ERP in PF, the main reason I am on the fence is because lack of knowledge, principally I don't think there's anything wrong with such things being advertised (it's just an advert, nobody has to partake) but if it puts kids in danger then I think their safety is more important. For that, if anything, I defer to the moderation team who I expect has the better data and better judgment on it than you or I. And from the get go I have said I'd understand if it was something the GM's cracked down on.

And as an RP FC leader, if we get any creeps, that's also exactly the kind of thing I would do, co-operate with this game's moderation should I catch them in the act and can report them.

Also if they were somebody I knew I'd try to correct their behaviour and I moderate my own community I run within the game, but I tend to end up dealing with toxicity and drama more than anything (which is behaviour I've moderated). I generally find the RP community to be about keeping creeps out and having a healthy community and the ones involved in are healthy communities. From my general experience when some one has across a creep they've done something about it, but it's not often I hear anything about creeps. Certainly creepy tells for those who get too close to the Quicksands and that I'll admit can attract dodgy people because of its reputation and sometimes those people are trolls. I avoid the place. My last RP there was years ago before it got like this. I would be in favour of a higher GM presence there to catch it, though the "creepy tells" is something people need to report because they're not out in the open.
