Isnt Twintania one of the two Euro servers that still has hundreds of open lots? You ask us what you should do, so heres my advice. Next time you log in, visit the housing areas of the 3 starter cities(Mist for Limsa, Lavender Beds for Gridania, Goblet for Ul Dah). Look at the listing of the wards. A house with a green or red name is currently owned, one with a white price tag is probly available for purchase right now(for the price it shows, then building the house will be more, and decorating is up to you) - note, this only currently applies to Twintania and Spriggan as for most other servers a house with a price tag will be on the lockout timer mentioned previously. If im right and there are many lots to choose from, walk around and get a feel for each district(people on other servers are advised to buy the first thing they can regardless of location and hope to relocate to something they like later). You are in no rush(people on every other server must rush). Find one that feels right to set up in(people on other servers can worry about this for relocations only). Talk about it as a group(people on other servers should already be absolutely certain). And finally, buy the thing if you already have the money or start saving up to do so(people on other servers must already have the money, as the time it takes to earn will surely see the open lot sold to someone else).

If my info is out of date and the two newest servers have joined all the rest as being effectively out of open houses, then refer to the advice from the previous posters as you will need it.
