How is the botting situation in this game?

I must admit I'm more than a little bit surprised that people are openly discussing bots, naming bots (though not linking to them), and discussing the benefits of botting openly in this forum. Usually people keep this on the down low so I'm really surprised there are multiple threads on this topic on the front page.

I have only played this game for a short time but I have not seen any bots (other than some garbled names shouting about gil in Limsa Lominsa). How is the botting situation in this game? Another game that I came from had a slight botting problem in PvP where someone could simulate a match with bots before the actual match to perfect their play. Are there similar problems in this game where people cheat in PvP?

In PvP I don't know, but botting plagues the DoH/DoL jobs, obvious RMT-related botting aside, and SE does nothing about it.

We had some bots problems in PVP during Stormblood when roulette gave experience no matter what position you were in and it was VERY serious because it was entire alliances of people boting around, currently at least in PVP it is very rare to see people using bots, where if it affects, it is in the market where it is full of these.

Don't forget the bots that are used by hunting discords both to let players list item pricing accurately upon command and to ensure they get complete coverage of A marks all the time.

Bots are still everywhere, questing and earning gil rewards to sell for RMT. They are still teleporting, still fighting mobs while underground and invisible, still doing everything they have been doing since 2.0.

And the market board bots are buying up cheap stuff to resell higher.

Whatever Square Enix is doing about botting isn't really effective. Botting is efficient and pervasive in this game, although mostly out of view of the veteran players. You mostly notice them while questing as a new player.

The game is probably working on code so old and so badly done that the devs have no programmic anti-botting capabilities. It's unfortunate but they are unwilling to overhaul the code in many aspects where it's clear the bad design is holding back the game and creating inconveniences and strange limitations for the player, while leaving the game wide open for bots.

The best way to play this game is to pretend you don't know the bots are infesting the game. The more you think about it the more you become disappointed.

Are market board bots a thing? I hold some pretty strange hours, but it seems that a few certain items created by a few certain people instantly undercut my postings the instant I put them up.
