    rng crafting is awful

As a crafter with near 7000 hours in this game i am on the verge of permanently un-subbing and writing 100 bad reviews for this game that i have spent hundreds of pounds for the privellage of playing.
The rng for the 'expert' crafts is 100% disgusting. I am regullarly getting 8+ fails in a row for my 50-60% skills, after one session i counted the number of fails to success and it is somewhere around 30% or less, ridiculous.
Firstly, when i am trying to rank in ishgard restoration it is one thing, its optional content for 'fun', after the week spent getting 1st on my server in the first phase i was so miserable and depressed at the week of having bad rng shoved down my throat that i didnt want to craft for months. this continued throughout all of the phases, leading to me totally losing interest in the restoration and leaving the social group id joined for it. this i can take, but when i see that the same rng system is required now at the last stage of every relic tool i spent hours working on, and am still having around 30% success (i have recorded 13 fails in a row, 10+ many times at an astranomicaly low chance, and i think i never even saw 8 success consecutively). its the last straw. SORT OUT YOUR DAMN RNG OR STOP MAKING US SUFFER IT.

The Expert recipes for the relic lie between the phase 2 and phase 3 Expert difficulty. They can be macro'd to get minimum rating using minimum required stats, 545 CP plus food/syrup. Doing it manually will get you the tier 2 and 3 ratings so you need fewer turn ins.

RNG is the only way to add any difficulty to crafting. Otherwise it's just a numbers game that can be figured out and macro'd for success if you've got sufficient gear.

It sounds like you're struggling because you're trying to aim for max collectability. Don't even bother, it's nearly impossible.
There's macros on "The Balance" Discord server to get you consistent tier 2 rewards. Check it out.
I used them and got my tool ezpz, just had to buy more materials than the last step.

This has always been crafting's biggest issue. There's no actual skill. Crafting is entirely a numbers game. RNG is the only way to add even a semblance of skill to the process.

It's not impossible on the Expert recipes for the relics. I had near 100% success when I was making the items for mine (had 2 end up at tier 2 rating out of the 240+ items that needed to be crafted for all 8 relics). But I also wasn't using macros.

It's not nearly impossible for Grade 4 Expert, either, though there's a lot more RNG involved and so max rating is not a guarantee.

But it is heavily gear dependent. You're far better off using Aesthete gear so you control your stats.

It’s a little concerning you claim them to be “nearly impossible” when all it takes is a carefully planned rhythm and using the right ability when the right proc happens. Like Jojoya I managed to get my tools in about 22-23 turn ins, those 2-3 being T1-2 failures because procs didn’t play nicely and give me a good Byregot’s.

At any rate, as someone else said, as much as it sucks, RNG is about the only way they can “spice things up” in crafting...aside from artificially forcing scarcity of materials.
