We're in the most active time in Shadowbringer's expansion post launch.

This is one of the most active times in this expansion's existence besides the launch.
My question is, will SE attribute this to:

    1. The Free Login campaign?
    2. Patch 5.45 relic step
    3. Endwalker
    4. Blizzard burying world of warcraft further

Or a combination of all those factors? I believe it's mostly due to patch 5.45; it has been literally 4+ years since FFXIV has had a good relic step like this current one. There finally is activity in the game. Relic activity fosters activity in other places such as Fates, alliance raids, dungeons, and it sparks activity outside of relic specific duties. I coin it "activity creates activity." This is a phenomenon some of us remember in Heavensward whenever relic steps were added. This is my take.

What about you? What do you think has delivered a new mini golden age for the game?

What kind of troll post is this xD.

Census data indicates the games population is stable if not declining slightly; We've been under 1 million active players for a while now.

This relic step has been pretty poorly received.

WoW players are generally happier with the state of their game than they were in BfA. I know a lot of people who dropped FF when ultimate was cancelled and went to do WoWs current raid instead.

I think the activity we are currently seeing is due to the latest patch being recent. We're gonna start seeing a bit of a drop off soon in the lull between patches. Then when the next patch hits...more people. Basically, business as usual. We'll probably get a pretty good surge of players again just before Endwalker releases and during its launch.

Not in terms of sub numbers, in terms of login activity; which go somewhat hand in hand, but not necessarily. Login activity is short term data, and more anecdotal; I believe this will translate to a spike in the next Luckybrancho subs data charts.

I could see this being the case but I believe this patch specifically has a longer lifespan than any other in the game's history, literally since Heavensward. I believe this to be the case because of the many factors working against it; you can't complete it in one and it's not designed like Eureka where many felt disconnected from it because of its heavy handed leveling and progression system.

I agree with the troll post but don't get this part wrong, as someone who plays both a ton of people are very unhappy with the current state of WoW, being better than BFA wasn't much, I'm pretty sure more people are hyped for the TBC classic than 9.1

Bots. Its all bots. And troll posts like this one.

The game is slightly more active due to the whole "level for free to 60" crap. WOW is a joke, and half the WOW players hate this game ad quit in a week so it's not them. It has to be bots and troll posts like OP's

There's a site that is using some online scouring algorithms to gauge sub numbers, activity, sentiment etc, called mmo population and it has ff14 being very stable and slowly increasing which imo is a sign of a healthy game, unlike WoW's peaks that vanish within a few months like the disaster that is SL dropping sub numbers incredibly fast which is easily seen inagame by the amount of people whose friend's list goes from many people to 0-2

They are using the same algorithm for all games so I am inclined that even if their numbers arent 100% accurate, their gauge and comparisons are pretty accurate imo.
