Xenoblade Chronicles introduced me to my favorite antagonist of all time. Cannot say why without heavy spoilers.

Tyss - short for Tyssen - is just the spelling I chose for the way a little 3 yr old said my rl name when I worked daycare way back in the day. It became my internet name.
I've been using this name in various games for decades. First time using it was in an old dungeon crawler RPG during the NES era.
I have an obsession with Sumer and all things Sumerian, so naturally my main character had to pay tribute to it.![]()

Bump
I'm sure many of the new players have delightful stories about what all went into their characters name.
Please everyone, tell me more~

Mine has been age old from bout 1997/98'ish inspired by two foreign exchange students we housed who brought over a small collection of "The Slayers" and me at the very start of my hearing loss (wouldn't bee until 10years later when it fully goes away) - when they kept saying Lina Inverse; from the two and in show seemed like a play on the word universe. Figured it was a nifty thing, more so after falling in love with what I could immerse myself in, a short redhead with a bit of teenage temper getting into shenanigans. My life in an anime!? Yes please. Though it wasn't. We eventually (all three of us) created our own Spear wielding Magic Caster Bad Girl with a summoned lackey OC for the series. Our own terrible fan-fiction and character to throw into the group. It was bad. Really bad. Well the character was awesome, but the rest... yeah left in the past - something, something crush on Gourry at the time.
Me and one used to play the Viola (and occasionally violin, but mainly Viola) the other, introduced us to Final Fantasy - starting off with FFIV - Kain, a Dragoon. Unknowingly the foreshadowing to come at the time we combined the two elements. Our enjoyment for the string instrument; Viola, and instead of being total fangirls, we opted to steer away from Viola Kain and opted with his weapon. The Lance. Viola Lance; a name all three of us use for our game files and adventures - It wasn't until a few months later after they returned home to japan, one of them contacted me pointing out we completely missed what the name sounded like to them; Viola Lance... Violence. ME thinking, No... Viola, its French... Voilà. Right? Nope. A small spelling error and completely not saying the name of the instrument I used to play correctly for years. It suddenly dinged in my head... It's not Wah-lah'Ans it was truly Vi-A-lens... violence, Viola Lance. Meh. Details. The name stuck, and has been a staple in my characters for games ever since that offer a Summoner / Mage and Spear wielding Melee for a job/class. A fun word play inspired by a simple anime that I could and still immerse myself in - and more so here now ever since FFXI (Kujata Server) being SUM/BLM, BLM/RDM, DRG/SAM and PUP/SAM.

Cyric is a god from Forgotten Realms, a campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). He is a deity of strife and deception, and the greater god of conflict and murder, as well as lies, intrigue and illusion. I really think his histories hylarious, and I like his unholy symbol so much.
Eladriel IDK... probably another invention from my head

Astra means star. I like stars and it's my favorite skill in Fire Emblem.
Ipheion is a type of starflower. I like that they come in many colors, so I can dye my WOL's hair in different colors to stay in theme to her name.

My Duskwight is Gale Valerian which I intended to sound as Final Fantasy as possible (Latin/Roman surname, weather related first name).
I like to think his birth name was Galeneau.

My names are my own creations but they are inspired from https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/ or from real world names.
Cheers
