The guy who was banned in question was outright advertising for ERP. There's a pinned post on r/sh*tpostxiv about it, and the exact conversation he had with the GM. This "fishing buddy" nonsense, is a joke.

The RPers who got hit are having the decisions reversed. A GM has formerly said it's okay to use PF for ERP. And GMs since whole craziness kicked off has said it's fine for PF to be used for social reasons as long as the content of PF post doesn't break ToS. RP and ERP does not violate this.

This whole thing came out of one GM.
His actions contradicted by other GM's.
In the nearly 8 years I've been here they've never cracked down on ERPers and have made no statements to suggest they will or that they are a bad thing.

Our naughty compatriots (not that we're responsibile for what OTHER people do) are here to stay.

Nobody is hurting your game, live and let live. Heck I am in favour of better PF options, if they were to go for what I suggested you'd be able to block out those ERP adverts you're too squeamish to see.

Gee-whiz how come you seem to meet more females in social settings where people might let slip their gender than in other content where people barely interact?

Here is MY anecdotal evidence: every single roleplayer I have met is male and all the females I have met, myself included, do combat content and do not RP.

Hrmm I haven't noted any particular gender imbalance between rp and raiding. I meet more men than women in general but that's about it.

Thank you for your patience while we reviewed the situation. In short, there was an internal miscommunication which led to account actions being issued incorrectly.
