FF Youtubers are always wrong

There’s all these people making money off of Final Fantasy 14 videos, and they speculated what was going to happen. Meoni, Mr Happy, Zepla, that everyday gaming channel..

And once again not a single one predicted sage and all of their videos turned out to be a waste of time.

Just wondering why this is. If this was world of Warcraft they would have correctly predicted the destination, the story, the jobs, the main features and everything else. Mists of Pandaria seemed out of left field yet the whole thing was predicted way in advance.

Do Japanese companies just have less leaks? Or are the youtubers worse? At this point I don’t see what worth they really have to the community as they’re always wrong.

It just means Square held its cards close to its chest this time. This is a good thing.

That's not to say XIV has a comparatively exceptional content community, though. While I appreciate the work our communities put in and watch a few once in a while, we simply don't have the personalities WoW (or, for that matter, some other games on Twitch) have backing them.

I'm not entirely sure why that might be, but I certainly think what happened to Scottzone would give anyone pause in creating (or moving) a community in or to this particular game.

I don't watch other people play games, so I have no idea what the guesses were but among my friends at least...some of our guesses proved to be correct and others were incorrect.

To be fair, though, WoW has always had things datamined months in advance so it's much easier to guess where its story is going.

I'd say that it's more to do with SE holding their cards closer to their chests. There was nothing to suggest Sage at all so anyone correctly guessing that would need insider info or a lucky guess. All the speculation videos I saw were based on decent logic which is the best you can ask.

Plus the purpose of these speculation videos isn't really to provide accurate news info (that comes AFTER the announcements) but to stir the discussion among the community, which they do. People want to talk about it and hear others opinions, so it makes sense that content creators put theirs out there.

So just because their job predictions were incorrect (as were 99% of the people everywhere else making predictions) it means all of their videos turned out to be a waste of time? Okay...

But yeah, all of the reasoning they used in making their now incorrect guesses were sound enough and they explained why they thought they way they did. They also said when it was pretty much a wild guess just based on what we already had in the game and didn't have in the game. Just because they spend more time talking and thinking about the game than most of us doesn't mean they have some kind of inside line on some sort of secret information. And besides, if you're really looking for leaked information then you're probably better off not looking at public faces who would basically be throwing their whole job away if they did leak anything that they did happen to know.

Square is a bit better at keeping this stuff internal than most and it's also worth keeping in mind that the pandemic has forced a lot more of the work to be internal than it used to be. More testing was done "in house" with their own QA staff than may have been normal. Less media contact was allowed or offered than is usual. If there were going to be leaks, there were less ways for them to happen.

I’m just surprised that these particular people hold their positions when they get far more things wrong than right though.

Can’t remember which one it was but they were already referring to it as forespoken as though it was a forgone conclusion. Not a single person came close to getting the name right.

Generally, when it comes to Western games, not just mmos, I feel the community has a better idea. Even if they get some things wrong, they’d generally be in the right ball park but I feel these guys can only predict the clearly obvious things that we all see coming from a mile away ourselves.

Mr Happy videos didn’t predict a single thing from this showcase yet he made money from several long videos telling us what we could expect. So I just don’t get the reverence.

I mean they 100% do, that's why Yoshi-P always has spoiler t-shirts on during these fanfests that could mean multiple things. They very much delight in throwing people off track.

Little harsh I think.... I mean they are "Guesses" not like anyone would actually know whats gonna happen in the future. Thats what "Speculation" is, they had nothing to go off of in the 1st place. Did you think any of them had insider leaks and info or something?
They do what every fan of the Community does, they talk and offer ideas, predictions and insight. If thats worthless to you...well.. :/

And I guess this means the FFXIV team and YoshiP shoot past expectations.
We think and expect this...and then they do something else. I think thats good...keep us suprised
