What if a DC just results in NQ product? That won't need any "saves", and can't be abused, right? And it'll be a lot better than losing everything.
“The best crafter is not the one with the best stats, but the one who makes the best use of one’s stats” – By Caimie Tsukino
I just remember that NOTHING was guaranteed in 2.0 like it is now in 5.0. There weren't many 100% skills. There was 70 and 80% skills. Something as simple we take for granted now like "Groundwork" would have been 25% chance of success in 2.0.Well, I did remember the feelings I had... It was old times when I literally had less than 1 million gil in total, and back then a few millions was like a few hundred millions these days. I was so shocked and stunned, that both my hands literally suddenly turned cold (I guess something happened to my blood flow?), and I couldn't breathe for a short period of time. Only after that shocking period, then I started to fret, and tried to think what I could do to amend the situation. >_<
Just imagine yourself handling an item worth more than your total bank amount, and it didn't just go NQ, but was a COMPLETE LOSS. That was my experience. There was literally "no energy to flip a table"...
My largest loss I ever had was 375k. I felt ill after it blew up in my face. Like I could not believe what just happened as I sat there in shock. 2.0 crafting wasn't for the feint of heart...or the poor.
I to felt that 1mil in 2.0 was a lot of money. I think I could only muster up 1.3mil by the end of 2.0. Heavensward was just as difficult with crafting with collectables and scrips.
I feel like the "fairer" way to handle it would be to just treat disconnects like a failed craft - there's a chance you might get the materials back, the same as if you ran out of durability. The problem, as I see it, is that DCing can be 100% out of your control, and is then 100% lost materials.
