I'd like to see the cap moved to either 400 or 500, just for symmetry's sake, but a rolling cap? Eh. If people are skipping entire weeks, then they're probably not that concerned about capping their tomes anyway.

450 has some meaning behind for gear planning prices.

At 500/week it'd be possible to buy a i530 weapon on day one of week 2 if someone cleared E10 and 11 savage and got the raid weapon drops, and many mid to hardcore groups actually do. This also would also push savage progression faster, because groups would absolutely funnel this drop to their top DPS if they don't intend to clear week 1. Because of the 1000 tome requirement, this ends up more free lot for these groups since you can't buy anything else for 3 weeks.

They always hold the weapon out to 1000 tomes, along with when they give the general population to buy an non-upgraded i520 weapon with the 7 normal raid tokens so they can plan appropriately.

there are limits because they price things out according to those limits. give people too much currency and they'll just up the prices.

I guess there is a missunderstood, i meant to say, if you're doing 300/450 on the Week 1, you'll be at 300/900 on week 2, 300/1350 on week 3, with no reset between the weeks, so it doesn't break savage at all, as it still keep up the same time to gather the stuff. It only help people that miss a week to still have a chance earning their point they missed on week 1 & 2.
It's Like the PvP on WoW, you can catch up if you're late.

And then if you use your token, it doesn't pull it back to 0.

Yea I’ve settled on them being priced and balanced perfectly to allow only a few purchases at once. 2 weeks 900tomes.

    Get you 1 body/leg or
    1 head/arm/foot and an accessory.
Or 2 accessories with a 150 carry over.Which only allows you to buy a head/arm/foot piece the following week.

Pretty well balanced to prevent bulk buying even if you do hoard to cap you’ll only get a body and leg before running out. Hardly a game changer like your extensions would be in the op.

Personally I read this as being a cumulative cap, not an increasing one.

The weekly cap of 450 stays but unearned tomes can roll over into future weeks. E.g. if you only earn 300 tomes this week then next week you can earn 600 because you still have 150 outstanding. The total number of tomes you can earn at any given point in the patch cycle remains the same, but you're not "punished" for starting late or not capping every single week.

So, there are two views on this.

On the one hand, you can think of it as being punished for not capping every single week, but if you allow unearned tomestones to rollover, you can create a pressure to gain everything back the next time. What if you miss out on like 4 weeks and now have like 1800 tomestones to grind? I think the fact that the developers don't even remove the weekly cap until the new weekly-capped tomestones appear, even with the long wait between 5.2 and 5.4 is deliberate.

People like to procrastinate and then "work" more at the last minute if given the chance. It can be unhealthy. With the current limits, if you miss out on a week or two or four, then you miss out, but it's not the end of the world. They don't want you to work harder to try to catch up, but if you do want to, you can try getting HQ sets or Savage gears to supplement. Alternatively, there are also dungeon and alliance raid gears.

Dungeon gear is 35 ilvl lower than tome gear. Alliance raid gear for this tier has not been released yet.

It's been 7 years, I think it's time to shake up the system a bit. However, I can live with the tome system if they would shake up how we get/cap tomes. Expert dungeons are just boring. Capping tomes just becomes a weekly chore to do that takes away time from doing things that would be fun.

people say "Shake things up" but with how tight the ilvl differences are you can't really do that without ballooning those numbers. as well they like to make each set of gear a set whether it be reskins or new ones.

There are so many ways to get tomes the way you want now in a given week, that many people don't even do expert dungeons anymore. If you want to focus on PvP for a week, easy. Trap some savage party finders? Okay. Only Bozja Blast? Another option.
