This is the Final Fantasy series... last I checked they were trying to make FFXIV feel more like a FF game, not less.
You may have had an argument there, but you totally did it wrong.
It goes right back to what some people have said about those that play XIV don't care it's a Final Fantasy game, they want another typical MMORPG.
I still haven't seen a single intelligent argument against a toggle. Why is this still an argument? I can't imagine a rational person being upset if the vanity feature with toggle was implemented. At this point I'm convinced anyone still arguing is simply trolling.
(Toggling off vanity slots allows you to see what they are really wearing.. and you might not invite them to a party.)

I meant things like seasonals, or other goofy looking items not meant to be productive combat items. Though I guess that "illogical fashion" comes off kind of funny XD
SE has already created vanity items, items that have looks barely any stats and fit almost all classes.
People here just want to have their cake and eat it. I can understand that, this is a game. BUT - its not my cake either and they want to make me eat "their" cake. When there is an extremely simple non taxing idea called "toggle". It wont strain SE severs to let my client side program to toggle which graphics to display.
The fact of the matter is, there will be a slight greater strain on servers because of vanity and if anyone actually tries to do anything unique there will be a greater strain on computers as they have to load more different models. That is a big if though, I imagine a sea of seasonals and AF armors (which is ugly but easy on your gpu lol).
rofl!!

The idea of the vanity system is to allow people to wear what they want and display it to other people without having to sacrifice stats. Giving a toggle option for someone else's vanity display is negating the basic idea of the system.
It's really ridiculous how people are fixed on the idea vanity will be abused to run around naked/in seasonal gear.
Claiming vanity breaks realism in a fantasy game is not any better either.

I know, but it shouldn't be too odd to see a white mage at least to be in heavy armor.
Its not that just being abused it also is not the gear you are wearing >.>The idea of the vanity system is to allow people to wear what they want and [b]display it to other people[b] without having to sacrifice stats. If you are hitting like a truck with a weathered spatula there is a problem.
You want to wear the gear you want without the repercussions. You want to force us into doing what you want, but you think its stupid that we want to be able to turn it off on JUST our side and let you continue to look the way you do.
You " I want to wear what im not wearing, I want everyone to see it"
Toggle Button " Ok, I dont want to see it - but go ahead for yourself"
I only see one unreasonable expectation here.
This is a fantasy game with a strong connection to realism. That has always been SE thing. Japanese plausible reality. They create almost crazy fantasy world you can escape into because of the seeded realism. Wearing what you are not wearing is not plausible in any idea.

You mean those other people that don't want to see vanity gear in the first place? The idea of the vanity system is to allow people to wear what they want and display it to other people without having to sacrifice stats.
