@Velhart: I agree with how you feel and understand where you're coming from, but let's not dwell on the attention the reps have given other threads. We should just continue to support the idea and go from there. If only to keep anyone from getting the silly idea of locking a thread like this one.
Moving on, I've been mulling over whether this should apply to weapons as well. I'd be totally for it, if only because I like the Steel Longsword I used while leveling. I'm not a fan of the winglet, nor the weirdly shaped Ifrit's Blade (which I don't have). Something about the longsword's simple design really calls out to me for some reason.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Same here. I've always hated how Ifrit's Harpoon looked, and the LL Trident isn't too awesome looking either. The Garuda lance though... that thing is sexy.
I wouldn't be against the weapons, but I don't feel the need as much as the outfit, but that's just me, but of course if you are doing one, MIT as well do the other

Jinrya Geki>> ...it's blue...
/sees this thread again.
We need vanity slots. How am I supposed to be a Red Wizard, dressed in blue!?
I recommend creating a color blindness spell cused with All-purpose blue dy, thus switching the color green with blue in the blindness... It is ALL-PURPOSE blue dye, after all.
On topic, i have really no issues with vanity slotting weapons, i often feel the same that i enjoy more simple-shaped weapons that are well decorated (i really like the Twin Adder LT sword. so that should give some insight)
I also wonder if we should discuss the pluses and minuses between systems such as Vanity slots apposed to things like "skin swapping" which in other games removes 1 of the items from the game completely.
One of the bonuses for a player with vanity slots is the ability to swap back and forth more often. Also fairly good for Role players because you can be more fluid with possible changes needed at the time. Also good for those who enjoy making media (Screen shots and movies) seeing as you can swap out for a particular shot but move back to perhaps your everyday personal choice.
THe bonus side for a re-skinning, so to speak, is more on the Developer side. By requiring a system or NPC to do so, they can set a Gil sink of some sort, removing currency from the game. Also removing one of the items extends some assets use by sending those players back for drops if they want to have a new armor skin/new stats.
I think the question we would want answered is which of the above would be prioritized by SE if they decide to endorse either possibility. And which the players would prefer both for them selves, and for the game itself.
As a one time avid Roleplayer who enjoyed giving personality to my characters, i prefer Vanity slots myself. Re-skinning or replacing skins usually led to swapping one static choice for another, albeit one i prefered. But i find theres great fun in being able to alter ones look more often.
What do you think?
Ya I prefer vanity slots especially since material already is technically a way of real inning something with stats from another item. Also in regards to vanity slots and material, I ink it would be good that you need to spirit bond the item before you can have it as vanity
I'm off and on when it comes to weapons. I don't mind either way.
