Damn how stupid this is -.-'

Stop playing the game if you can't live without your fashion. Such a nonsense...

First I thought "Oh, lets give them a try."
But it tears at my nerves to see people pushing the same thread over and over again.

Let the devs do their work. I am sure they already took notice of your or a similar thread in the last 3-6 months.
Can easily turn it around. Not everyone is in your state of mind either. Maybe you can bring a valid point in other MMO's, but you have one flaw to your statement. This is Final Fantasy, meaning, a lot of players are JRPG players who favor a fashionable look, but only wear stat gear because it is better for the events themselves.

I know I don't like the tanking gear I wear right now, I wish I could go all out and make my character look unique. Look back at previous Final Fantasy's, do most of these characters look like they are dressed appropriately for the situation?

Seriously, I used Vaan in FFXII as a tank in the game, and all he wears is this one tiny vest. The point is, this system caters to a large number of people. This system was successful in WoW and Rift. People did not like the new look of tier gear in the game, and wished they could wear their earlier tier sets again. They made the Wadrobe system, and I didn't hear any complaints about it. Maybe one or two people on the forums like you.

Overall, I don't want to see all DPS's in a group wearing Haubergeon like FFXI. I want everyone to come in and have a look that defines them, a look that defines their character. Having everyone in Haubergeons would just make the game feel less creative and generic.

Indeed. Characters in FF are designed around the aesthetic of their role in the story as well as their "job class". Aesthetic is very important to FF, though this was largely ignored in XI. There's no excuse for XIV ignoring it.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Support. If they want lore behind it, I'd be fine with something WoW implemented (transferring stats of one item to another's appearance) by certain NPCs. Or, ya know, just give us vanity slots.

Not only to FF, if you compare western to japanese culture you will see that most of the time, the Western prefer function (or content) over aesthetics while it's the other way around in the Japanese.

One example would be your typical anime (aesthetics first, story second) versus western cartoon (story first, aesthetics second)

This is a bit of an extreme comparison. American cartoons for as long as I can remember have focused on milking a concept for as long as they could, whereas what drew me to anime was the fact that you had a solid story that began and ended.

Either way, vanity slots. We need them. Pretty please?

I admit it might sound a bit extreme, but anime with solid story are rare nowadays, with majority being mindless ecchi/fanservice anime with a hint of a story.

It does depend on a season and on anime target base and on length of the anime, though. Still, you can say that aesthetics are more important in anime as they are in western cartoons.

Kind of an unfair comparison. There are just as many bad animes as there are good ones. Same for western, there are just as many good cartoons as there are bad.

The difference between japanese and western is mostly in Japan, most of the time it is focused on the characters, making people feel more attached to them. Westerners usually create a world first, then add characters in to interact with it. Both are really good, it just comes down to preference in style.

So if someone is big into westerns, they are more into what is going on in the world, without necessarily caring how they look, while JRPG players have an extreme cater to aesthetics of characters and how specifically "he" evolves.

Dragoon artifact armor looks nice but its not the best in stats, it would be nice to skin better armor to look like their artifact armor so you can keep your sharp looks and your stats. I think the only restrictions this system would need is classes can't skin artifact armor/CSE/weapons and vice verse, and you can't skin anything that job/class couldn't natively wear ex: Cobalt Cuirass cant be skinned on armor a mage wears.
