Oops Hrothgar! How do achievements work?

Hi,

I've been absolutely loving FFXIV and running around as a Hrotghar has been a delight. But Hrothgar and Viera are apparently not good choices for FFXIV fashion.

Because cats and rabbits can't hat, some achievement rewards are apparently negated.

Are achievement's character bound? That is, if I want to wear the chocobo racing mask from grinding out pedigree 9 burds, do I have to start over and re-grind it out from 0 when I create a new character with a more subjectively "pleasing" head?

Achievements are character bound.

So yes, a new character would have to start from scratch to be able to obtain the Chocobo Racing Mask.

Ah. Thanks for the info. That's pretty daunting. Maybe some day it'll have a reward attached for my current character.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but do know that when you complete the last quest of base ARR, the one with the second 8 person dungeon, you get a free Fantasia that lets you remake your character with any race. Otherwise you can pay real money IRL for more of said item to change your character's race.

But that's only if you want to change away from Hrothgar. Otherwise you are sadly SOL.

Also, there are some hats that still work for hroth/vierra. The ones that replace your head with a "new" model usually work, so the racing mask might actually be doable.
