NECRO THREAD
You're all being baited by these necro threads.. lol
to be fair, it's still a relevant issue
people still get gaol'd and aren't told specifically why they're there. if you're gonna block me from playing the game i paid a month for, you can at least tell me why so i don't repeat the mistake in the future. shit's so stupid and the people defending it probably post "nothing to hide, nothing to fear!" on their facebook lol
you and other folks wanna know why. play on the EU servers where they are actually able to tell you. Here they will not because it can result in witch hunting and harassing the person who reported you. so its to protect them more then anything. they will give you a general part of the tos you broke but thats about it. if you honestly can't remember or know what you did then not worth it. just try to be better in that area.to be fair, it's still a relevant issue

Okay, why are you conflating a video game with real life? SE is not your local government.I have spent so much money on this games lifetime. I do not want to lose everything, so this was not only traumatizing, it was incredibly scary.
Would a cop be allowed to arrest you and not tell you why you're being arrested? Of course not, so why isn't Square Enix transparent about WHY? How can I improve my behavior and learn about what I did wrong, and how to avoid strikes against my account, if I never even have clear answers?
Also, there is nothing "incredibly scary" about it. Would it suck? Absolutely. Is it traumatizing? Absolutely not.
i didnt see he tried to make a irl connection. kinda funny putting gm's on the same level as cops

Its jail. what did you expect? some cool surprise. It has always been this way even in FFXI. You know what exactly jail means, you did broke some rule in the TOS.So yesterday I got thrown in Mordion Gaol for apparently breaking the rules about offensive content/language. Okay, but why?
While I'm thankful for the GM who released me, I shouldn't have had to wait for five hours to get released, with no indication that the Gaol is where I am I at. Googling about the place gave me more information than Square Enix did. There was no prompt that I had been jailed, no explanation as to why, and no indication that a GM would come help me. It felt like I had to stay at my computer for all those hours, skip hygiene, not bother to cook, or do anything out of fear of being held in limbo longer. The entire process makes you wonder if they're even going to reply to you. It feels incredibly isolated and alone.

What they basically did could have honestly been dealt with in a tell while I was online. This extreme process was unnecessary. The entire Mordian Gaol system needs an overhaul. It's so bad for mental health, and honestly at risk of being incredibly corrupt.
I am disappointed. My experience felt incredibly unethical.
. You said something and one or multiple didn't like what you said. They only will tell what rule you broke. Nothing more nothing less. Its to prevent witch hunting.
But it sounds like you got off with warning so watch the language around strangers even on balmung you gotta be careful.
You're in Jail you s***, shower, eat and sleep when they tell you to. :PSo yesterday I got thrown in Mordion Gaol for apparently breaking the rules about offensive content/language. Okay, but why?

Just once I want to go to the gulag where I will fight a GM to the death and earn my freedom.
Coming off a similar issue, I agree this is not the way to handle things. Especially with people who have been invested monetarily in the game for years. Threatening accounts without saying why is completely unethical. So yesterday I got thrown in Mordion Gaol for apparently breaking the rules about offensive content/language. Okay, but why?

I imagine if you were a RMT you'd get treated better.
I'm sorry what. its a well known fact they won't tell you what the actual report is. they give a vague detail then tell you the part of the ToS you broke. they frankly won't tell you a thing here as to the nature of the report in case you connect dots and figure out who reported you. its to protect those people from being witch hunted. as for "Especially with people who have been invested monetarily in the game for years". We all agreed to abide by the tos. it don't matter if you been here since 1.0 or just started last week. everyone agrees to abide by the same tos and if you are in breach of it you get hauled in. told what part of it you broke then given either a warning or if more strikes are on your account a certain amount of day bans or removal of your account if a repeat offender. i mean you want to be told then go play on eu and carry on. i hear they legit tell you over there what was reported and not just what part of the tos you broke. that also tells you just how vengeful people on the NA dc's are if that tidbit of info is true about EU gaol.Coming off a similar issue, I agree this is not the way to handle things. RMT people outright just get banned. they won't pull them in. no use on it. most of them bots anyways.
