The announced PS5 version is a joke. Nothing substantially is improved and the game could already run on PS5 with the backwards compatibility mode.
You could use an SSD with the PS4 already and SSDs in PCs are a thing many many years already.
On one of their presentation slides there was a note with small letters that further graphical improvements will come later on.
Very vague.
Until then nothing is changing for XIV.
Totally with you on the textures, probably pretty easy to upscale with AI and get -something better- at least. As for PS5 support, the load times are it afaik, PS4 SSD support is basically useless due to crap SATA support, and I believe how the games are physically allocated on the disk, ie. it doesn't play up to SSD's strength in random seek and reads. I'm on PC and NVME SSD, but also possess both PS$ and PS4 Pro, niether of which benefited much from SSD's in terms of in game load times. As for RT, I doubt we'll ever see it in XIV, no incentive there at all for SE
