I have tried WoW twice now. Both times because a friend really wanted to play it so I went along for the ride. BOTH times I had game breaking bugs in my starter area. My first character was wargen, their starting quest line can bug and you cannot complete it therefore cannot leave, become an actual werewolf, literally I was trapped. I had to make a new character that time. The SECOND attempt at WoW more recently with their new all in one starter area I AGAIN had a game breaking bug. My quest just would not update even after restart etc. So another character was made yet again. Add on to that audio bugs where it was stuck repeating. Then the story for me was in totally the wrong order cuz you are dropped off in the middle of one expansion somewhere. I was fed up within a few days.
Those bugs in starter areas, ESPECIALLY the wargen one is so atrocious. I googled the bug first time around and it has been there for YEARS. If they don't care enough to give their new players a good experience then I don't care enough to struggle through that buggy joke of a game. Navigating the place is hell. Nowhere is easily gotten to. If you get stuck they send you to a now outdated link half the time because they changed something and haven't updated the site. WoW to me is for people who have been playing it for years. Not if you are new and trying to get into it without a vet to guide you.
FFXIV has issues yes, I hate what they did to astro cards, I in general hate the homogenization of tanks and healers. I detest bozja atm still. But at LEAST I had 0 bugs as a new player, I wasn't lost as to where I was in the story, I can navigate the world without needing multiple google searches and on top of all that. I actually feel like my job has a place. Whereas in WoW as a feral druid I was quickly told I would not be welcome in raids. Idk how anyone plays that game, it seems they are a mess constantly.
