Devs, please stop making everything a robe/coat on casters and healers

I'm all for more glamour variety, but that judge gear is just ugly. Useless and ugly. I will never wear plate on my healers/casters, heck, I don't even use it on my tanks. But yes, SE should definitely give more options for those of you who enjoy heavy armors.

Use glamour prisms and the glamour chest, to get the looks you like to have, that is what the rest of us do.

If one doesn't want to wear a robe they are limited to all-class crafter gear, level 1 glams, and only a pitiful handful of other sets (less than 10 IIRC, excluding the ARR halfrobes). And a good chunk of your non-robes and such are level capped dungeon drops. So you're asking people to put in hours upon hours of being at the whims of RNG all for the privledge of looking like an adventurer instead of a priest?

And if one wants to wear armor proper as a healer or caster you're limited to a bunch of mogstation items and debatably two ShB sets, the Judge set (which requires DR savage to be dyeable AND STILL has the skirt), and the deepshadow set (which is a scale mail robe that only looks like proper protective gear on healers, and only the chest because the rest of the robe is hot fucking garbage unless you're into blind masks and armored high-heels).

As a RDM main I feel this. Most gear sets are only designed BLM in mind.

So much this. At least in other role's armour sets you occasionally see a switch where each dungeon or two there's a clear favour towards a different job. Some aiming sets clearly look Bard inspired, some clearly look MCH inspired, some even look Dancer inspired. While each set isn't really "for" every job, you can be sure to at least see sets here and there for your chosen job. With Caster, though, it really does feel like 90+% of the gear is meant for BLM.

We've had 8-10 years of gowns, robes and coats. Magic users have been wanting more variety and especially more metallic armour. Many previous FF characters were casters and they certainly had more than just robes and jackets for protection.

We got Judge Drace's armour recently, but you couldn't even leave that alone as it was

This is what its supposed to look like. No dress/buttcape hanging from the belt, metal gloves and leg armour, and certainly not a cut/pasted pair of pauldrons that mismatch against the rest of the gear

Its not judge drace's armour, we had it with the deepshadow scale mail as well. Draped in enough cloth and long enough to be more of a gown than armour piece




Its bad enough disciples of magic get 1 or 2 metal armour per expansion, please stop making them all knee length and draped in enough cloth to overheat the wearer.
The endless robes and coats are really stale at this point.
Give us more metallic and regular sized armour. There's lots of styles as you know when you design tank and dragoon armour

I don't mind robes so much, but we definitely need more of a variety in healer/caster gear. Most of the existing ones we have don't really stand out; they all kind of just blend into the background.. I mean I always glamour over them which is a shame because SE is capable of creating some really awesome gear designs. It wouldn't hurt them to throw in armor/top/pants without a robe, cape, or butt skirt.

You know this could be largely solved if they just loosened glamour restrictions. I desperately want the DoW shadowbringers pvp glamours for sage when it comes out.

I don't think this will ever change, they have a blueprint for everything in the game; they can't go around the blueprint because of role identity. After Stormblood (a hot climate expansion), and we still got heavy armors and long robes there's little chance nowhere we go will ever influence lighter clothes or more original clothing types when it comes to non-level 1 gear.

Was rather disappointed with the healer Judge set. They just couldn't give us proper armor, it had to have frills and semi-look like a dress.

I swear, all of the roles problems aside, sometimes I feel like the glamour game is what's stopping me from being a healer main.

And their glamour options are either more robes or casual looking lvl1 glamour sets, the issue is there is not enough variety in gear for casters. You can not use glamour for a different look when there are no gear sets to glamour for the desired appearance.
