Devs, please stop making everything a robe/coat on casters and healers

We've had 8-10 years of gowns, robes and coats. Magic users have been wanting more variety and especially more metallic armour. Many previous FF characters were casters and they certainly had more than just robes and jackets for protection.

We got Judge Drace's armour recently, but you couldn't even leave that alone as it was

This is what the armour looks like in game

This is what its supposed to look like. No dress/buttcape hanging from the belt, metal gloves and leg armour, and certainly not a cut/pasted pair of pauldrons that mismatch against the rest of the gear

Its not judge drace's armour, we had it with the deepshadow scale mail as well. Draped in enough cloth and long enough to be more of a gown than armour piece

Its bad enough disciples of magic get 1 or 2 metal armour per expansion, please stop making them all knee length and draped in enough cloth to overheat the wearer.
The endless robes and coats are really stale at this point.
Give us more metallic and regular sized armour. There's lots of styles as you know when you design tank and dragoon armour

Doesn’t bother me too much since glamour plates are a thing.

Was rather disappointed with the healer Judge set. They just couldn't give us proper armor, it had to have frills and semi-look like a dress.

Not that I mind at all if others like the set, just personal opinion, but it was a hard miss for me. I have nothing against healer robes, but we don't need every piece of gear to be a dress or nightwear. Some variety would be welcome.

1000% agreed. Once I heard of the judge gear I thought we'd get no robe for once, and a badass armor at that. I should have known better, they still managed to give us one. Complete disappointment. Especially considering other jobs get a proper cape, which we could have gotten instead. And I hate frills.

To be honest, I feel it’s not just caster’s but the majority of armors are in this kind of A-line skirt /robe/pseudo skirt / flowy flowy kind of shape.

Enough with the A-line shaped armors. I don’t know if this tent shape is popular or trendy in Japan or somewhere but it’s too much and I prefer them to design more like tight fitting non flowy armors.

As a RDM main I feel this. Most gear sets are only designed BLM in mind.

All they had to do on the caster set is remove the cloth. That's it.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Use glamour prisms and the glamour chest, to get the looks you like to have, that is what the rest of us do.

This is such a silly argument. Maybe people would like more than the handful of existing non-robes to use for glamour? Are you aware that people like new things, and for those new things to not be the same as old things?
