I'm pretty sure Ardbert during his "better" days as the healer role quest may have implied more than friendship between Lamitt and him :P. Could likely be just my VN-tinted glasses.
Otherwise? The "obvious" WoL x Alisaie. The cs before Shadowbringer really hit the feels for me. Although I'd also be fine in her role as a little sister (together with Ryne, even though her Trust position is moved to Estinien).
In the early ARR days, I'd even ship Minfilia and WoL because she'd call them "their Warrior of Light" iirc and revealed her "weaker" side to us :3.

It actually implied Ardbert was too much of a dense doofus to notice Lamitt's feelings for him, which is entirely on-point for his protagonist nature if you ask me.

Umm, I ship my WoL with G'raha, but I'm too lazy to create my own headcanon. SE isn't very daring when it comes to characters' relationships; the most detailed thing they've done is G'raha himself, and I doubt they'll develop that further.

I guess this is why I'm not generally interested in FFXIV characters. They're there to either be useful tools who help and admire you (in platonic ways), or enemies who want to battle you. Nothing much further than that.

Yeah, they're usually pretty non-committal to showcasing romance between PCs and NPCs. I think the closest they ever got was in FFXI, but you had to go through a horrendous sidequest in order to get the dialogue.

This, of course, was the Odin Prime trial in the Hazhalm Testing Ground, which you must repeat 13 times, for a total of 14 clears. Each time, instead of opting for real rewards, you have to opt for the non-reward of, "Free Luzaf's soul."

Once you do, the Empress Nashmeira gets all teary eyed, and she laments that she cannot be with you on your adventures. She remains hopeful and declares that you are eternally her mercenary, and that she believes you will always come back to her.

Keep in mind though, even though this is all initiated by the player, that was not the expected result. First of all, she expected you to save Luzaf, who had a physical body, and she was crushing on it hard. She talks to you through her puppets in a non-royal setting, perusual, and makes sure you understand that saving Luzaf means she and he will be together. '

To wrest Luzaf's soul away from Odin, you trade yours in turn, and this questline gives you the title, "Sworn to The Dark Divinity." So what you've actually done is set Nashmeira up for heartbreak a second time, because at some point, Odin will come calling to use you and your soul.

He never does cause MMO, obviously, but it was quite a bit of a thing for a romance related sidequest.
