Romancing the Crystal

Now I don't think we'll be giving any crocodiles cases of fatal indigestion in order to get our hands on El Corazón in this thread. However... I was bored and thought to myself, "In the unlikely event that they did write in NPC x WoL or other love stories, what could happen?"

So the point of this thread is to discuss just that. What would you want to see, if they did write in some explicit romance in FFXIV? What NPCs would date one another, how would it fit into the narrative?

Bear in mind, I have no real dog in this kennel; I just started wondering about it. I've been playing through the Mother series of RPGs, and I found it briskly refreshing to see MCs and their love interest have an explicit relationship.

If you don't want to see any romance play out in FFXIV, that's fine, maybe you could imagine though, what each NPC's love language would be or something.

I'm also aware there are a few examples already of NPCs in relationships or pining to be, but what I'm wondering is, what's the minutiae for ones we aren't shown? Who would truly be the best fit for the WoL, Derplander or otherwise?

I admit I think Magnai and Sadu are too clearly meant to be, despite their obvious differences - opposites attract after all, and the fact they keep getting in each other's faces convinently, it's like they can't stand each other but want each other so badly as well. It's hilarious.

With the caveat that all characters are bisexual at the very least and obviously NO romance with underage characters under any circumstances:

Cid and Nero - So much sexual tension, they should have gotten a room decades ago.
Sadu and Magnai - Although they'd probably kill each other the first chance they got.
Lyse and Hien - I can kinda see them working.
Sadu and WoL - No comments there, one fiery romance.
Hien and WoL - Like a long distance relationship.
WoL and any of the Scions (barring the underage ones) - Thinking of the brave new Y'shtola here
F'lhamin and WoL - Lovely couple.
Cid and Thankred - One night stand.
Aymeric and WoL - Oh there's a potentially long lasting relationship that I see ending because the WoL is never there.
Aymeric and Lucia - Stating the obvious.
Lucia and WoL - Some potential there if Lucia can be persuaded to stick with WoL and become a Scion.
Feo Ul and WoL - I know Feo is already there for the WoL but I can just see them being romantically involved.

I'm rather glad they don't have an explicit romance for the WoL—G'raha being glued to the player's hip already chafes my goodwill as it is, and I have a sneaking suspicion the writers would love to hot glue him to the player's backside instead. But if there absolutely had to be canon romance...

Maybe if there was a time skip to put them in their adult years, Alphinaud and/or Alisaie would be interesting. Alphinaud's been with the player the longest overall, and the two of them arguably have the strongest bond with the WoL and aren't, y'know, dead. Otherwise, I'd have to go with... I don't know. My current flavor of the month is Mikoto, honestly. She calls out fight mechanics in Delubrum Reginae, and is also kind of a sweetheart.

Oh, and there's also Feo Ul. Would be nice to retire to Il Mheg when all is said and done, and become their Queen...

Sadu's my kind of woman, I love a woman that's stubborn, challenging, and competitive. Would it really hurt the dev team to advance their relationship a little bit next time they meet? I was almost 100% positive Magnai was going to rescue her from dying when she was fighting the WOL that second time in a way where she couldn't resist his heroism.
