    1012 Error : A version update is required

    Can someone please help with a technical issue I'm having?

    I played the game earlier this afternoon just fine and and it's been working fine ever since the most recent patch but when I tried to log back in this evening I keep getting an error message. The game patch screen goes by fine and after I enter my password and hit play the game goes through the intro screen and then into the game screen. From there when I hit play to enter the data center the game thinks for a moment and then "A version update is required. Select OK and launch the game again. 1012" pops up.

    I've tried several of the suggested fixes in other threads such as choosing a different data center, rebooting and checking my virus chest to see if any files were quarantined and nothing has helped. I'm hesitant to reinstall the entire game so are there any other things I might try before I have to resort to that? I know it's not a data center issue either which was the problem in one other thread. One of my friends is currently logged in and didn't have any problem getting in.

    If it is only happening with this one character, you may want to try deleting the locally-saved data folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.
