So windows central just posted this article https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-...sion=true&s=09 about the status of the Xbox port of FF14, a port I have been patiently waiting for since it was announced that xbox would be getting all of the modern FF titles ported over to it, and also stated that FF14 would be coming "later next year " (XO2019) until 2020 became what it is. It was safe to assume that an Xbox port would be justifiably pushed back until at the latest late 2021. So to hear news that there is no plans to port the game to Xbox, while the game is already on two other platforms with similar architecture to Xbox, is frankly un acceptable I'm my book.

Xbox FF fans deserve to be able to play the game as well. I play on PC, but want nothing more then to be able to play on my preferred platform with friends who would love to be able to play with me on that platform. We kept getting excuses after excuses as to why they can't port the game. First it was something to do with the games chat functionality not mixing well with Xboxs policies which was reported to be solved. Then it was the XBLG pay wall, which again has now been rectified. Now it's "we don't have enough recourse" FF14 I would argue is squares biggest and more profitable FF title due to the fact its a sub based MMO that charges for the base game and each subsequent expansion thats the equivalent of a full priced game. So forgive me if that excuse sounds like total BS.

I'm tired of Xbox FF fans being treated like dirt and second class citizens. There is no reason why the game can exist on the MAC of all places and not on Xbox. Hell the PC version supports Xbox controller button prompts. This is completely unacceptable in my eyes, and a total betray to consumers on squares part.

It's not like I am an outsider looking in either. I currently play on the PC, I have completed the whole current story from ARR to ShB on 1 main and 5 alts, and have almost completed it again on two more alts. I continue to support the game, and have for years now. So to see them forsake an entire potential playerbase with such a flimsy excuse is frustrating.

If Sega can port PSO2 not only to the west, but also to an entirely new platform, so can Square.

Look at Microsoft policies. They require a gold account for online (can get around, as some games have), but also "the ability for Xbox players to be able to play with only other Xbox players"

MS has already rectified this though with there new policy changes that should be coming out soon that removes the paywall for certain types of games. Also the article says that this isn't the current "problem"

Apparently that has nothing to do with it based off a new interview with Yoshi-P. The port might even happen in the future now after End Walker based on what he said. Link to the new article.

They probably meant that no more as in no more dumbed down games

For someone who's mad that they delayed Ultimate, you seem happy to cut the revenue of the game by about a half. That would surely help content development.

Proof? I'm willing to understand but without proof that sounds like a far fetched dream

Why would you want to Gatekeep more people having access to the game? These new consoles are powerful and have the ability if the game supports it to use M&K. Plus it would help grow and expand our community.

I'm so mad about this that I ended up making an account for the forums here. I have soooo many Xbox only followers on Twitter who have been wanting to play this game for the longest time. They were extremely bummed when it wasn't announced with End Walker, and are furious at today's news. I don't blame them. In 2019 SE told Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox) that FFXIV was coming to the platform...Which was a lie apparently. SE is just skipping over an entire community of players right now for some weird reason. If they ported it Xbox they could help grow our community plus they would make money off Xbox people buying the game, expansions, subs, and in the cash shop! It makes no sense to me not to bring them into our community.
