Why are there no male dreadlocks?

I'm a little irritated by how there are only straight hairstyles in the game other than the afro that isn't the best looking. Raubahn's model has cornrows/dreadlocks and we can't have them for some reason. I would be fine if they put them on the Mogstation or something at least. Just give us a bit more variety other than all these hairstyles that are just straight.

I never thought about it this, but that is odd. The deadlock hairstyle they do have would look fantastic on any of the male races.

The locs we do have are pretty atrocious tbh, and just a tangled looking mess of matted hair in the back which makes me think they didn't actually use a good reference when they designed them. I'd love to see them get redone.

I know that's what I'm saying. I would be fine with buying it. We have Thancred's long hair and Hien's hairstyles on the Mogstation. But I don't know why they don't have more options. It also isn't like they haven't had characters with dreadlocks before this game too. Kiros from VIII and recently Weskam from XV.

Hien's hair isn't available on the Mog Station, unfortunately. Just his outfit.

It's the same reason other npc hairstyles aren't available except a select few- bc people request it & SE will choose to ignore it or not
there def needs to be more racially diverse hairstyles. but it's a japanese game, so you won't get much of that

Monster Hunter years ago when I played it on PSP had more racial diversity options than XIV. I know that it's a Japanese game but it's still irritating. I also don't know why the dreadlocks are female only when we guys can have very effeminate hairstyles already.

I don't know but I agree that it is very stupid that there aren't any.

And before anyone says "clipping issues!" the one dreadlock style we have is long, and there are plenty of dreadlock styles irl that are much shorter. There is no shortage of references or inspiration for SE to draw from.

If Animal Crossing can manage to make some nice dreadlock hairstyles, SE can

My wild guess is they're just not confident (...or interested, if I'm being a little cynic) to do anything outside stereotypical straight or spiky anime hair - it's easy, popular, unisex, low rez, few textures, and nearly no clipping. Hopefully if/when there's another art contest, more entries will have a bigger variety in hairstyles other than 20 variations of Karen hair, I honestly don't want to see any more of those...
