It's on EVERY mount. Even the teensy tiny great serpent of ronka mount. It's just more concentrated there.

I also don't like how this looks. I don't get any bad effects from it, but it just seems unnecessary and weird. Is the air in Eorzea very dusty? Are the mounts extremely dirty? I don't understand where the smoke comes from. I realize they put it there to make you feel like you are going fast, but I just don't think it's needed.
I use the Moogle Beastribe Cloud Mallow mount and don't notice it as much on that one though, which is one of the reasons I use it.

The particle effects are why I straight up refuse to use certain mounts. Fenrir being the biggest disappointment. I have wanted Feni as a mount since I got him as a summon in ffxi and we finally get him and the particle effects are so overboard that I just took him off my bar after a few days. I would love a toggle for this.
While they have gotten better from arr and certainly hw days, the devs stil go a little heavy handed with particle effects on certain things imo.

I personally love the particle effects for Fenrir, but I don't think a toggle for these sort of mount effects is a bad idea at all. It would be a nice QoL thing for those who'd use it.The particle effects are why I straight up refuse to use certain mounts. Fenrir being the biggest disappointment. Never noticed this, so I just tested it. All I get is a faint light colored mist following my mounts. I have to look carefully to notice it against most backgrounds. No way it blocks anything.
However, I could see it being a bit annoying like some WOW mounts (I can't use Ashes of Alar due to the bright streamers flapping in my face.. )

Then you are likely playing on different settings, because it's massive on mine.

If the mounts didn't have this effect when flying, some would look like they're just sliding trough the air... This effect makes flight dynamic and it feels like you're actually flying, removing would make flight look really cheap.
I have actually seen how it looks with the smoke effect entirely disabled and no, the mounts would still look like they are going fast because they have wind distortion effects on things like wing tips, retaining the feeling of fast mobility without putting a giant smoke cloud in your face.

No matter how small and non-problematic, there always seems to be an issue XD
I think it's supposed to represent humidity rather than smoke... but I agree with the OP: toggles are good.
