Just a question about 6.0 Scholar

So it’s been revealed that we will have pure and barrier healers. That’s great I’m all for it. My question is since scholar has whispering dawn which is an aoe regen, will it be changed to an instant aoe shield? I’ve always loved that Astro could instantly do this with celestial opposition when in nocturnal sect. Will Eos/Selene embrace just be a barrier instead of a pure heal? So many questions about this.

It’s just when they say barrier healer I’m expecting most of their skills will be barrier healing and not direct healing and no regens whatsoever since that steps on pure healers toes.

What do you guys think? I also read the interview Yoshi P did and he said sch and sage are barrier healers but how they apply the barriers will be different. For example sch will use their fairy to apply them. (This scares me because we know the pet aí is just bad atm)

Anyway what do you guys think?

I'm going to say unlikely because they already consider Scholar a shield healer and WHM a pure healer and AST a mix of both. I expect what it means is just that AST loses Noct Sect and puts the balance into Sage.

I would be really surprised if they removed direct healing from any of the healers. Since every healer should be able to do every content etc..

Which is why the shield/pure divide is so ridiculous.

SCH, AST and WHM are basically all Pure healers, except SCH and AST have a few shields in the toolkit in addition to pure healing and WHM doesn't. The only identity is that one healer has less tools than the others.
This is something they actually need to address in Endwalker. It doesn't even matter if shields aren't as strong as regens when they're simply a bonus to the toolkit and useful in endgame prog. You'd prefer the healer that can do both to the healer that can only do one. If they're set on doing split specializations, they should go all-in really.

This really makes me worry tbh, because by the time we know what the job changes will look like it is already too late to get any changes done.

Hence my thread about nerfing pure heals to make way for boosting shields and rebalancing our dependency on shields. In practice it's not much of a shield healer anymore, even if they consider it one.

SCH shield indeed needs to be stronger. I however prefer instant cast aoe and single target shield just like AST Aspected Benefic and Collective Unconscious (if they removed nocturnal from AST might as well just give them to SCH). Makes them on CD so not spam-able.

I haven't seen any indication that all regens must be removed from a barrier healer. Now, that doesn't mean it won't happen, SE can do whatever it wants- but I would find it far more logical that each type of healer has at least some skill that come from the other type. That could very well mean that SCH keeps whispering dawn- in fact I certainly hope they do.

Where I do agree is in loading more onto the fairy unless they make improvements. Frankly if a pet glitches on a DPS it isn't as crucial, but if I'm a healer it better damn well work if it's tied to healing skills.
