Gambler Job to FFXIV

Lady luck is one of my all time favorite jobs in X-2 and the playstyle is addicting .
Aside from bard, i dont think we have enough support DPS jobs in the game and a card throwing, coin flipping buffer would bring and interesting twist to Parties.

what do you guys think?

ast used to be the closest you can get to this niche and while I would love to have an actual gambler job and it is a fun idea and a class with FF roots.

there's a rub though, and unfortunately its an irl rub. There's a european regulation that prohibits casino or gambling esque imagery in games depending on the age rating. While this regulation is blatently broken by the volume of lootbox ridden games, ea titles etc, Square enix operates on a "better safe than sorry" model with regards to ff14 because its a cash cow. This is why despite numerous requests in the past we don't have poker in the gold saucer.

I'd love to see it. Unfortunately, I don't really know how it could work in the context of 14. Not because of the general mechanics but more because of the inherent randomness. As 14's big fights are so tightly scripted and, at the higher levels, fairly meta dependent I don't think many people are going to welcome a class that, by it's very nature, is going to be random. I mean, look how AST was changed to remove most of the randomness of it's card pulls and that didn't even have any truly bad outcomes.

Also, 14 doesn't really have proper a proper support role so it's a little hard to see how it would fit in on that regard.

That being said, I absolutely loved Corsair from FF11, so I would be totally on board with a Gambler/Corsair job.

You notice there WAS gambling in the Gold Saucer. Doing Mini and weekly Cactpot, it WAS possible to lose MGP. Then several updates ago, MGP cost to play was reduced SO much it's impossible to actually lose MGP.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that done to compel more players to go to the relatively unpopular gold saucer?
I didn't think that had anything to do with censoring gambling.

I disagree that this would really be an issue. If so they wouldn’t have a literal giant casino hub.

There’s been gambler characters in many final fantasies and honestly I don’t think Japanese devs care too much about European regulations.

I just think it’s not a direction they’d want to go in as they’ve pretty much already done the gambler aesthetic with the gold saucer.
