Are there any North American servers with decent housing available?

Im not picky about which district...My husband and I just really want one...We currently reside on Lamia but people using bots are ridiculous and make it almost impossible to get one. We want to consider moving to a server where we could easily buy a house...

I've seen some smalls open up on Diabolos the last few days, but all of them have been grabbed within a day as the timers expire. I wouldn't expect much to be available much of anywhere until there's a bit of a lull between patches, and even then you will need to be at the right place and time.

There are opening here and there on Sargatanas, but I don't think any server will let you "easily buy a house."

personally think the best bet is to play the waiting game
games gonna go into a dry spell around the middle of the year Demo timer will open up some houses
and if not there will be Ishgard that will open up plots all over next year

the waiting might suck but its better than paying $20 to move server only to have a chance at a plot

They're super easy to get, and you can actually do a good amount of decorating with the space you get with one.

Goblin has a small pop every so often. Though I am being honest no matter what server it will never be easy per-se unless you are lucky.

I hate to say but your experience is gonna be similar regardless of server, just obviously some have it worse than others. I'd just say avoid the biggest populated ones like Balmung and Mateus. I ended up using my Zalera character for my personal house.

Fortunately there's a housing Discord where people will post when they see new housing plots become available to take that headache away. And sadly you'll have missed "the big purge" a few weeks ago where a LOT of inactive houses became available...I got my personal house a week before.

Because of the huge demand, you're gonna find it's lottery regardless of where you go. There's things you can do to increase your chance, but really it's just going to boil down to being at the right place at the right time and being the quickest to clear. With housing timers being random and not on display you will never know when a house is going to become available for purchase.

With auto-demolish back on, you might get lucky.

Our FC was able to grab our large on when new wards opened up once. One of our officers fortunately had a day off work, he got up really early, made sure everything was downloaded in time. He made sure the game was installed on an SSD, that the character was on NIN, he has Google fibre and super low latency and went in with a game plan and practiced his route to snatch a house...he still didn't get it and had to quick thing, detour and found one free.

I tried a similar method to get my personal. But the "Play" button just hanged for too long when the patch when live and I was 1,800 in the queue and they were all gone when I finally got in. But this was Balmung, however, this is kinda house tight it is.

In the end I end up doing the camping method, when a plot opens up from auto demolish or somebody vacates I'd compete with other people whilst waiting for the timer.

This can be very time consuming and you might find you don't get one still. You might find somebody is quicker on the trigger than you, or you walk away for a break because you're human, or somebody is using a bot or somebody comes to relocate an existing plot and bypass the timer.

It's not a recommended method if you want to keep your sanity. Me, I persisted because I'm an RPer who runs an event and I saw a plot being useful for hosting for certain ideas I had. Else I might have stuck with an apartment.

Given Ishgard housing has been announced, if you can't find anything by then, I would consider trying when that comes out. Make a game plan because you're gonna find a lot wards open up and if you don't get any, lots of people will relocate too.


But NGL, it's a big lottery regardless of server. Housing in this game is a mess. I feel like they should upgrade apartments into instanced housing. Get the best of both worlds, people who want a neighbourhood can have it. Those who just want a house don't have to complete then.

It's the same everywhere, it's as if SE and Yoshi-P had decided that there would only be housing for 10% of a server's population.

And that they would give as an excuse that it's for a more lively community that houses are not in instance... except we all know that housing areas are EMPTY !!!

Logic must escape us.

Ps: I have my home in Heavensward, but I feel sorry for the others.
Ps²: I only see my neighbours on the first day of the new patch and after that, they don't seem to exist anymore.

Houses on NA worlds are scarce. We've got the highest average player population per world but the number of houses per world is the same as any other region.

Transferring to a different NA world won't make much difference other than maybe reducing the number of players you're competing against to get whatever house becomes available.

There are a couple of EU worlds with a fair number of houses still available, and several JP worlds. If you're mostly playing with each other and haven't really developed a circle of friends on your current data center, you might want to make test characters on one of those worlds and see if you're feeling any measurable impact on your game experience. If not, you could then consider a transfer to get a house.

If you want to remain on the NA data centers, I would suggest you both get an apartment in the same apartment building. It's not quite the same as having a house but with two apartments you will have close to the same interior space to decorate as you would with a small house and you can easily move between the two at the exit menu.
