Currently replaying ARR and met him again and agree we should be able to give him some closure and help him back home or so. And after reading this thread I also want this to be resolved just to know if this cool fan theory from Veloran is true.![]()

Paradoxically, if it were true then that'd be a reason for us not to get that closure. The whole planned Dalmasca storyline got wrapped earlier than it was planned to after Bozja (I've heard specifically because Bozja was poorly-received at the time, but I haven't seen a confirmed statement), and the developers aren't going to continue it without Matsuno out of respect for the man's work.
So really, Drest can only get closure in the current situation if he's just what he seems to be, a nobody-special soldier that washed out of the Legion and has some major demons to wrestle with.
He should be roughly as old as Rasler, considering he appears to have fought the Garleans during the invasion of Dalmasca. IE, he was at least of fighting age.my hesitation in declaring him as Rasler was always the fact that the original Rasler in the lore would be in his fifties by now.
Drest's current age is what will help unravel this mystery-- exactly how old is he?
This is an aside, but while Fran is operating the resistance from the ruins of Rabanastre, I was under the impression that this supposed Ashe was in Golmore with the Viera. In XII, after all, "Lente's Tears" was an artifact that granted passage to the Viera's home.Is she hiding with other members surviving members of family (and her resistance army) within the ruins of Lesalia?

It's not all that bad. He gets to live in a place with some of the best music in the game.
The Raincatcher Gully theme is my favorite ARR track.
