Alternate idea: each time you fish up something that is not for crafting, desynth for rare item, or turn in fish, it does not get added to the inventory, only the fishing log.

The fish prints on the wall can be changed to selecting from fish you have already registered in your fish log instead of having to keep a fish in your back pocket for ages till you discover how you get them to be put on the wall.
