There are no storage slots there. The Key Items inventory is exactly as large as it needs to be for the key items you are carrying at any given time. The visualization of it as a full inventory tab is only there for UI convenience.

I always find the "key items has so much space!" argument so funny, cuz, like, do they not ever consider that the "space" changes depending on how expanded they have their inventory set to? Sure, looks super big and empty if you're set to fully expanded. But normal 1 tab scale, much less "space" and clearly no extra pages for the rest of those non-existent slots.
Anyway, from everything I've learned over time, it seems, from what they want us to know, that it's a bit of a monumental struggle giving us more normal inventory. The coding for it is rooted so deep into the game that to change/expand it may very nearly require ripping the entire game up by the roots. At least, is how I interpreted why we got the chocobo saddlebag(s) instead of just more/bigger inventory. They can maybe play around more with bags/inventories like that, supplementary to our normal inventory, but otherwise we may be kinda stuck.
I am in favor of offering a 3rd free retainer, though. Unless they can work out how to trim a lot of fat, especially in the raid token department. Good strides in moving beast tribe tokens to currency. Hopefully they consider looking into what else can be moved like that.
I could support current expansion primal tokens being moved to currency, because mounts aren't buyable until long after the trial is introduced, so people often have to hold on to a stack of tokens for many months. Current expansion alliance raid tokens also, because the tokens from the first raid and second raid are still current through the end of the X.5 patches.
Old primals, old alliance raids, and all full party raids, though; those tokens are not meant to be hoarded. Get what you need and then spend the tokens. When the content becomes obsolete, toss the tokens. Nothing special needs to be done for these.

In my experience, it doesn't matter how much inventory space you have, if you're the type of person that has run out of space already, you'll run out of space no matter how big your inventory capacity is.
You need to manage your inventory better. Use and discard things that are of no use. Sell things you can easily buy back. Trade in gear for GC seals.
What I would advocate for is:
Moving trial tokens to the currency tab.
Increasing the capacity of the glamour dresser. (as well as more plates)
But there's no convincing reason to go through the effort of trying to increase inventory capacity. It's just shifting the goalposts.
There is a technical cost to more inventory, even yoship even explained it years ago. As a programmer myself I'll explain a little bit.
If you add say another 50 slots to your inventory that means those 50 items have to keep "following" you everywhere, which is a server cost. It can affect performance, and probably instances the most since those servers track you much more because of battle mechanics than say in your housing area.
So with that in-mind, it's way easier to add more glamour drawer slots because they are only in the big cities in the inn or GC room. Those slots aren't following you everywhere. Saddlebag is almost the same concept where you can use it almost anywhere, but they do not follow you on instance servers.
Tokens are a smaller cost, because that's another set of code that has to follow the character. Like it's a waste of resources to have the game track how many Susano tokens years later when you probably stopped caring two years ago. Beast tribes are always relevant and they used up that resource.
Look in the 6.0 keynote, YoshiP said they were taking back 10 belt slots for reserve. So that means current capacity they could re-allocate elsewhere or use it for something else.
That's the thing.
Us newbs/returning players are inundated with stuff we have no idea is for. But I'm OK with that.
I'm not ok with not having a centralized storage system (i.e., which retainer has the item I need?)
And as a corollary, I'm not ok with the "find" function only being useful only if you can find it first.
I'm not ok with items stored not stacking automatically.
I'm not ok with the drag/drop system as opposed to a keyboard command to move stuff from my inventory to a retainer.
I'm not ok with the numerous steps I have to go thru to move my stuff from my inventory to a retainer who already has the same item, where it would stack, but only if did so manually.
Bottom line, the inventory management system in this game is the worst I've ever seen. Fix that, and there is no need for more inventory space.
But since they charge extra for more inventory space, I don't expect they'll fix it anytime soon.
This much at least is not a problem. You can /isearch partoftheitemname
e.g.,
/isearch totem
/isearch weathered
/isearch antiq
Results will appear in the chat box so you can right click and Search for Item. If there are no results, you don't have any anywhere. Give it a couple seconds between uses. It has a slight cooldown.

You really wanna fight don't you. Lets do this troll.
1. Use your damn retainers. That is not playing wrong. Its called spending money to get more retainers, if and only if you need them.
2. Stop hording everything, this isnt some stupid elder scrolls game.
3. Learn how to do proper inventory management, in other words only carry what you need and off load the rest to the market or the retainer for later use.
4. Stop quoting me.
Lets deal with you second quote from another thread, because you Cleary wanna fight. And I am down for that. Troll.
1. Dont tell me to use third party apps.
2. Where in the first quote do we use third party apps for inventory management?
3. Learn to read.
4. stop quoting me troll.
