Well then, could it be clever play wherein it's, "Fandaniel and his brother." in French, but then, "Fandaniel and his sister." in German? With the languages assuming the gender of the WoL, which could be either, as a Golbez reference?

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. That, but also I just remembered that the French one could also just be starting with a vocal, because in that case it would also use the male version for a female term (sorry, former French teacher).
It's fun speculating, but I guess we shouldn't forget that those pronouns might be placeholders - the translators would need to know what word is missing.
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
I took two semesters of French like 17 years ago. I vaguely remember some of it, lol. Not nearly enough. That, but also I just remembered that the French one could also just be starting with a vocal, because in that case it would also use the male version for a female term (sorry, former French teacher).

I could speculate all day.
Put FFIV-reference A into Endwalkers news slot B.
Edit:
Also you changed your hair after the longest time!

Fandaniel and his wife, perhaps? Maybe he had one before he was uplifted, or he's remembering his wife from before the Sundering. Or maybe a single sister. Or a family member.
Crack Theory: He means his sister, who coincidentally is Venat for some reason and he wants to see the whole world burn to undo Hydaelyn to 'save' her...
... then again, Fandaniel emphasises that he isn't a stuck in the past as the other Ascians, indicating he has no ties to the old world.
Edit: Haha, I did! But it feels... strange and I might just revert to the former haircut. It's more Rica.

I don't see how Fandaniel would need to burn the world or amass a lot of aether or faith to retrieve Venat. IIRC Hydaelyn should be capable of similar feats as Zodiark (either because Hydaelyn was also summoned using Lahabrea's blueprint for Zodiark, or because Hydaelyen replaced Zodiark as the heart of the star). If Zodiark could regurgitate Elidibus' soul (or create a familar/primal of Elidibus) Hydaelyn should theoretically be able to do so the same. Not that she might need to regurgitate Venat's soul, since it's possible that the only thing left of Hydaelyn IS Venat. Over the course of the game, Hydaelyn has expended her power (over thousands of years fighting the Ascians, then to save the WoL from Ultima, and then saving Minfillia, and then stopping the complete annihilation of the First). It is possible that Hydaelyn may have expended nearly all of the aether from the souls sacrificed to her that the soul/aether of Venat might be the only thing left, so in essence Hydaelyn is Venat with no other thoughts floating around in her head. In which case, it's only a matter of getting Venat out from inside the planet back to the surface.
Except the towers don't seem to have been created for doing something inside the planet or retrieving Venat. They seem to be designed to amass faith and/or aether to empower or create something (maybe a bridge to the moon, or to reconstruct Zodiark, or to open up Zodiark so that Zenos can possess it, etc). Maybe Fandaniel is trying to destroy Zodiark, or hijack Zodiark, or free Zodiark, but it seems that the towers designed to revolve around Zodiark up on the moon, not Hydaelyn who is down inside the planet.

Fandaniel and his... half-monkey brother?

Someone on the FFXIV reddit pointed this out
"Correcting your assumption about a male word in French. "son" can be used for female words, for example "son amie" (his female friend)."
Am I crazy for thinking this "Female Friend" could be Anima?
EDIT:
If the implications in French are that they are referring to a female friend Anima could fit the bill (also a little too on the nose) but it's also likely the translators were not told the censored word and Ishikawa wrote "???" on her actual note card

Now that you mention it, Anima (or rather, the originating Fayth) in FFX was Seymour's mother, wasn't she? This is going to be "Mommy Issues: the Expac," isn't it?
