Maybe we'll even bring Y'shtola with us. She's already stated her intent to find a way to return to the First.. and if anyone would find that way.. it would probably be Y'shtola.i think most characters are safe now. i dont think there will be many deaths and if there are any deaths then it will be some random side character. the writers tend to lean towards positive emotion when playing ffxiv; they especially want to be uplifting for everyone living through the stress of the pandemic.
the direction they are taking this is a lot like kingdom hearts and world hopping. for the sake of mmo story, they are making our WoL into someone who crosses worlds. when they end this story arc completely, WoL will cross over into a new world shard where we will meet an entirely new cast of characters again and embark on a new storyline. they have been building up the world of ffxiv to explain how the WoL can cross into other worlds, now they have laid out the template for future expansions.

I don't think so.the direction they are taking this is a lot like kingdom hearts and world hopping. for the sake of mmo story, they are making our WoL into someone who crosses worlds. when they end this story arc completely, WoL will cross over into a new world shard where we will meet an entirely new cast of characters again and embark on a new storyline. they have been building up the world of ffxiv to explain how the WoL can cross into other worlds, now they have laid out the template for future expansions.
If they were setting up for future world-hopping adventures, they wouldn't have made it so phenomenally difficult to develop the conditions required for us to travel to the First.
Remember that effort required:
- 200 years of work to develop and build a space-time machine (plus the events of Alexander and Omega to establish the necessary concepts)
- also develop the spell for pulling someone across the dimensions
- G'raha giving up his mortality to bind himself to the tower both to travel to the First and to wield the necessary strength of magic
- moving the entire Crystal Tower to another dimension
- 100 years of waiting for the timelines to align
Basically, this is not a setup for regular interworld travel.
We have no ability to simply leap worlds on our own. Once we were in the First, attuning to aetherytes is a straightforward business, but getting there to begin with is beyond even our own power.
It's not quite impossible for us to end up in another shard, but at very least we'd need a sufficiently powerful mage from that shard to somehow learn about us and want to call on us, specifically, and know the spell for bringing us there - but that's basically Shadowbringers Round 2 with the same story that the Exarch originally claimed for calling us.

I really would like 7.0 to be an updated Eorzia set of maps. MMOs always feel so static.
Generally that's because most MMO's find themselves concluding that changing the maps doesn't really work the way they want it to. GW2 tried, numerous maps went through changes in the so called 'Living World 1' content after GW2's main story conclusion.. and now those maps are permanently stuck in the aftermath of the cataclysmic events that turned those maps into ruins because Anet concluded dynamically changing maps didn't really work for them.
To circle back to FFXIV with this point.. I would personally love to see Mor Dhona go through.. preferably significant changes, right now it's just.. ughh. Compared to it's geographical equivalent on the First, Lakeland, it looks horrible. Other ARR maps could definitely also do with some passage of time updates or being reintroduced.. West Shroud comes to mind.

I still feel like Merlwyb and Kan-e-Seena have been on the chopping block since at least 3.0, to show how serious the new big threat is.
I'm not sure if Merlwyb actually doing something in 5.4, or Kan-e-seena still having done nothing much since 2.55 is a bigger death flag.

I'm sure some antagonists will die, some side characters that no one cares about (e.g. Lyse) may die, maybe even a Scion without a big fan following may die... but that's about it. Happy for SE to prove otherwise.
