That might work in a single player game but how would it work in a MMO? Are people forced to level everything up again just do do old content? Would we be forced to change our character appearance after all the old one is death? Does our character just forgets everything thus giving us the need to relearn about every other important character? How would they deal with events and stuff like that? I doubt that this would be great for most of the players or the game.

Maybe Y'shtola's next fakeout will actually stick. Not holding my breath, though.

The twins are functionally the main characters aside from the WoL, so they're not going anywhere.

G'raha is probably safe, due to just joining the Scions, a convenient source of Allagan secrets from the Crystal Tower, plus his invaluable status to trusts as an All-Rounder able to fill any role.

Matoya's too useful as a keeper of whatever plot device lost secrets we might need down the line. It's not like her age is gonna suddenly catch up, thanks to the time bubble.

I'm also not thinking that Sharlayan is a shoe-in for 6.0. I feel like it'd be a big enough deal that it could be the stage for whatever comes after in 7. Just my speculation.

I'm holding out that G'raha will actually stay dead.

A company should never listen to character death wishes of the community in form of "I hate character x, please kill them off" or other crap, nor use them for cheap drama.

As for PC dying: GW2 did have the PC "die" at one point, where they ultimately came out by gathering enough external life force(?) within in-verse rules by defeating a monster who just happened to collect enough of it.

My personal hope is that one or two of the Scions bite it. We need actual consequences. However, given that nobody has died since Heavensward, I'm not hopeful. They killed off Gosetsu... and then brought him back in the same expansion. And they hyped up G'raha Tia's demise and didn't follow through on it.

Also, the Trust system shouldn't be indicative of plot armor.

If you thought they were "hyping up" G'raha Tia's death, then you had a gross misunderstanding of that plot point of Shadowbringers was. They plainly spell it out that self-sacrifice isn't a cure-all for every problem and G'raha Tia's martyr complex was going to cause more issues than it would solve.

If people think that character death is the only "consequence" of story that matters than I'm glad the writers don't read the forums.

Y'shtola seems most likely to me.

She's still building that debt using up her personal aether to be able to see and which Matoya warned would kill her eventually. It's not like Emet Selch cured her when he brought her back from the life stream. I was very surprised that wasn't mentioned during the mother porxie segment but I doubt SE has forgotten about it.

If you run G'raha in Trust as DPS, he's essentially BLM just as she is. That surprised me. I was expecting to see him go back to Archer as he was when we first met him considering his arcane ability was supposed to draw from the Crystal Tower, which technically he shouldn't be doing anymore now that's he's sealed it back off. Why BLM? Perhaps because that's a hole that will need to be filled in Trust soon just as Estinien is replacing Ryne.

G'raha's fading blood of Allagan royalty is plot armor for now. I'm expecting it to be useful when we get to the moon.

We'll only really interact with her now when the story takes us back there, similarly to how we only interact with Hien or Aymeric when we're dealing with the goings on of Doma or Ishgard. Killing of Lyse would only lead them to have to make more quests resolving the absence of a leader in that nation.

Also we can rule out Alisaie and Alphinaud since they were already in the teaser trailer for 6.0 and I would say Y'shtola is safe because of plot armor. (She's been dying since 3.1 but they seem to have handwaved her using her own aether to see killing her) I also agree with an earlier post that no one from the trust system is going to be killed off. So as far as characters of any significance goes, the main ones are probably Krile and Tataru. Though it's also possible it's someone who was a minor character before who gets build up in the story now only do die at the end of the patch, or who gets introduced only to die (see also Moenbryda)
They could easily write her out and replace her with Raubahn. Nobody would bat an eye to the change, because he's been associated with a sign of leadership for so long. In fact he would probably make a more popular leader than Lyse would. Raubahn and the Sultana are incredibly popular together

As a result all the Eorzean and Eastern alliance leaders would be shocked, reinforcing the fact that our leaders CAN die. Yes that would them all at risk, but it's a risk that might add more weight to death in the story.

Plus with Raubahn and Nanamo each leading the more arid of the city states, it would lead to a healthier dynamic. They could begin retooling Ala Mhigo to actually be a functioning and visitable city state, instead of just a gorgeous picture with a bland set of unvisitable windowed boxes.

There were a series of quests about this already in (I think) 4.1

I do think it's disappointing that there's no way to really visit the city proper, there actually are things they've done to start rebuilding the city into being self sufficient. They're actually one of the world's premier traders of salt, working through the Ul'Dhahn syndicate to sell the salt to the culinarians of Limsa Lominsa. You can actually even go to the Lochs and see NPCs farming the salt in parts of the zone. Ala Mhigo's problems are that unlike Thanalan, their mountains don't contain much ore, and much of the land isn't great for agriculture (this is part of the reason that before ARR, Ala Mhigo attempted to conquer some of the lands belonging to Gridania)

Selling salt and stone is the economy of the city.

I think what we should do, since 6.0 is a self contained wrap up story, is ki8ll all the scions off in the last act of 6.0 and introduce new characters for 7.0. It won't happen, it would make a lot of people mad, but it would be really cool. Like a red wedding. I just want a graphic red wedding in this game.
