Didn't they show a screenshot from 5.5 of all the Scions and Eorzean Alliance leaders gathered together at a meeting table? Lyse was there. That kind of shot the cliffhanger in the knee.On the other hand, Lyse is another would-be candidate to fill a melee DPS slot, and she hasn't gotten the job... though it could still happen in future, of course. One way or the other, they're not going to announce her as a trust right now when the last chapter ended with a cliffhanger as to whether she's okay.

That depends on when in the patch that meeting takes place. Chances are good, the meeting with all the Alliance leaders is one of the first things that will happen in the story in response to all those towers popping up all over the world.

There was a MASSIVE hate train for Minfilia for a long time. As a result, they slowly phased her out, and basically made a new more likeable version of the character. She essentially got replaced comic book hero style. (It honestly reminds me of when Wally West replaced the Flash in the comics, only The Flash didn't die. He was just stuck in the speedforce and eventually saved. Though both are beloved by the fanbase..)I would assume that all NPCs that are currently presented in Trust System are sort of in a safe zone. Mainly because it will be weird to keep them there if they're dead, and removing some may cause "hey pardon me what did we level them for then" pushback.
Lyse isn't in Trust system so... she may become the victim, plus 5.4 MSQ ending was kind of hinting its possibility. Same goes for Krile who also isn't playable though I can't find any reason for her to die yet.
Anyway..
I think it's entirely possible that Lyse might die. She's disliked by many, and Square might be willing to repeat a Minfilia to get rid of dead weight with her.

I like Lyse.... she's been one of my favorite characters. BUT personal opinions aside, she's already been largely written out of the story with her becoming the leader of Ala Mhigo. We'll only really interact with her now when the story takes us back there, similarly to how we only interact with Hien or Aymeric when we're dealing with the goings on of Doma or Ishgard. Killing of Lyse would only lead them to have to make more quests resolving the absence of a leader in that nation. There was a MASSIVE hate train for Minfilia for a long time. Also we can rule out Alisaie and Alphinaud since they were already in the teaser trailer for 6.0 and I would say Y'shtola is safe because of plot armor. (She's been dying since 3.1 but they seem to have handwaved her using her own aether to see killing her) I also agree with an earlier post that no one from the trust system is going to be killed off. So as far as characters of any significance goes, the main ones are probably Krile and Tataru. Though it's also possible it's someone who was a minor character before who gets build up in the story now only do die at the end of the patch, or who gets introduced only to die (see also Moenbryda)

I foresee that no one will die. We haven't had an actual main character death since Heavensward, only tons of fake!deaths.

Only one i could maybe see die would be Thancred since his "role" so to speak is more or less over ( for now anyway ) with Minfilia gone and Ryne not needing him around 24/7 anymore.
But overall i don't think any of the scions are gonna die, yet.

I'm expecting a fake death, as usual. Beyond that its difficult to speculate

for something that happen to the twin in FF4, i dont think it will be happy ending for those in FF14
Honestly, with the story arc coming to a close I'm half-expecting we're the ones who are going to try/do a heroic sacrifice stunt to save the world, only to be spared by the grace of Hydaelyn or some other super-powered entity.
I do think it would be interesting to see how everyone reacts if they thought we were the ones who were right and proper dead for once.

Would be kinda nice if it was our character ( warrior of light / darkness ) who had to "sacrifice" themself, even if only to return but then they could do a time skip if they wanted to and have our character return 1-2 years later ( or something )Honestly, with the story arc coming to a close I'm half-expecting we're the ones who are going to try/do a heroic sacrifice stunt to save the world, only to be spared by the grace of Hydaelyn or some other super-powered entity.
