That gives me hope for something dark and scary, like a Reaper. I love it.

I wonder what we could get for a weapon. Off the top of my head, I thought of: 2h hammer, 1h hammer + off-hand, dual hammers, dual axes, 1h axe + off-hand, dual swords, single dagger + off-hand item, halberds/pole axes (though dangerously close to Dragoon), 2h scythe, 1h scythe + off-hand, dual scythes, giant blunt object we saw Berserker man holding at the end of Heroes' Gauntlet, flails, maces, clubs, tree trunks, floating skull, aetheric blade (think lightsaber from Star Wars)

    The list goes on.

I've been saying this in-game to my friends for over a week now-- my instincts keep looking toward a scythe wielding VOID MAGE as a possibility.

See that ship headed to the moon in the Endwalker's logo? Why the bloody heck did it suddenly remind me of the Tales of Mhachi 24-man raids from Heavensward? Perhaps it is because the interior architecture of that tower in the trailer (with Fandaniel and Zenos) which looked expressively very similar to the ones within the Void Ark raids. Then of course, there were the official new concept images of Endwalker which were tweeted online and then my blood got racing.

Then I really want digging-- re-watching lore related cut-scenes, replaying the Void Ark raids for my relic runs and then researching my FFXIV books-- then I remembered. According to the wonderful pages of my Eorzean Encylopaedia (pages 30 to 35) the lore explains that the Mhachi civilization evolved within the Yafaem Saltmoor which is just northwest of the Mor Dhona area-- and they were the originators of the voidmage job-class.

Also has me seriously wondering if some Mhachi survivors have been hiding on the moon this whole time... it will be really interesting to find out if High Void Mage Cessair (Cait Sith's master) has been alive all this time-- very interesting indeed because this tale has been one that has intrigued me immensely since Heavenward's release in 2015. Think about it-- we got in-depth clarifications into the Syrus Tower tale in Shadowbringers and the Ivalice tales are being tied to Gabranth and the Save The Queen arc-- but what about the Tales of Mhachi tale with their Void mages? Yoshi and the Devs may not like tying in new jobs to story progression but there are locales within the game that can support the commencement of the void mage job-- Gelmorra, Tam-Tara and Toto-Rak are a few that come to mind.

*(Gives a silly smirk)*... a scythe-welding Void Mage as a possibility. Could be a silly thought, but weirder things have happened.

Considering the fact that we already know the job will be STR-based and will be sharing the heavily armored maiming gearset DRG currently has, I don't think a mage-type class is likely unless it's something like a rune knight.

Another interesting theory I read was that Yoshi's three shirts might indicate Geomancer. Now, in hindsight, I know it's probably not possible, considering the new job will more than likely use maiming gear, but at the time I read the theory I was 90% convinced that that could be the case. No Comment = ROCK band. Sex Pistols = ROCK band. Children of Bodom = METAL band. Rock, rock, metal. Geomancer.

I attempted to prank my friend one day, telling them that one of the new jobs leaked, and I called it a Darkslayer - an unstoppable hunter who viciously pursues his or her quarry, all things void. I don't think I managed to trick him, though.

But for real, I think that really is a scythe in the Endwalker trailer, after watching it many times and then checking with other people who noticed it. I'm 100% confident they'll show off the other new job in the full trailer, once we have our answer, or before they give us the answer.

Indeed, and on Discord a number of us already discussed this possibility of the new melee job sharing the strength based gear with Dragoon. However, what about Void Knight? A scythe-wielding Void Knight or Void Master? I admit, "Void Master" does sound a bit awkward, plus I believe a couple games out there already use the "Void Knight" term-- the Devs are always adamant about originality.

However, before the Garleans absorbed Landis --Noah Van Gabranth's original homeland-- one of their cities (Mannatheihwo) was home to a company of mage-knights.

Wait-- I got it-- VOID MAGE, VOID MASTER, VOID KNIGHT, VOID TEMPLAR. Or simply a TEMPLAR that uses Void based skills-- like a mage-knight.

Neighborhood is also a rock band. So it’s not that far of a stretch.

You also have to remember he said they chose melee because Dragoon was in a “unique spot.” That was it. The fan base has assigned that to maiming gear. An argument can be made that it being solely the maiming job is not unique because of ninja and scouting. I will get my head bit off for that bit though.

Yoshi P is VERY careful with the words he selects, he left it open on purpose. While yes it could be talking about maiming, but completely disregarding that it could mean a number of things is also foolish.

I was sort of hinting at it with Lunar (Mystic) Knight, but like Sage being a bit of a high tier remix (isn't the standard Sage we all know from other games) one may think of Mystic Knight like that. If one thinks the moon, and likely Zodiark all up in there with his darkness / void (if Mother is light), then you might get a void theme'd knight under the guise of Mystic / Lunar. Going towards lunar and void powers also avoids directly stomping on Dark Knight's tail. Space, haunted moon, void, etc- not really pure darkness.

On Geomancer I remember someone suggesting Geomancer works with metals and gravity as well - which would line even more with geomancer of rock rock metal (if that was the hint from the shirt), myself long wanting a bruiser mage (and have actively suggested a few times Geomancer gets heavy armor, calling it Geo Knight which might be something like rock and heavy metal == rock knight).

I think geomancer could be cool, especially if it's getting an aggresive bruiser mage image (and can probably mean some new gimmicks for melee fighters, adding some big diversity to that group of jobs). Although I hope if it's not some bruiser mage that it has some of that reaper / darkness inspiration into the job (haunted moon would count, imo, but yeh lol). Still have small hope out for a Ranjit inspired job since I love transformations but I'm certain on little.

I am really hoping for Geomancer or Beastmaster for the job. I think both could be made to work with a melee DPS with a big handled weapon.

Beastmaster because I really want to go around taming pets (which I know is just collecting pet skins to apply over a pet that does the same few things, like changing my carbuncle glamours). Using a Ran'jit inspiration makes a ton of sense to me. Scythe wielder with pet summons, having abilities that set you up to combo with your pets by ordering them to initiate certain attack types (a move that inflict a bleeding/poison DoT, a flanking pincer maneuver with you, hell give them an "emergency medical treatment" resurrect like one of those St. Bernard mountain dogs with a medical kit) would be awesome for that.

For Geomancer, I was thinking about how to merge what we see of Doman Geomancy in the AST storyline/Swallow's Compass, where they call upon Wind and Water and Earth, with how GEO has worked in other games (using hammers, using terrain). Geomancer with a large hammer (one or two handed), uses Dragoon armor because they get in close to the fight. There would be a way of attuning between Earth/Wind/Water and gain a different personal buff type when attuned to each. Switching between elements could possibly empower some of the base attacks differently. (Maybe it charges the hammer with visual effects to reflect which element you're attuned to and thus how the damage goesOr maybe they drop the hammer down to create localized AOE/terrain effect around them (like how the Ninja creates the Doton's corrupted earth). Instead of just providing a debuff or damage to the boss like Doton, the elemental terrain effects provide the same buff the GEO has to any melee in range who stand in it, giving them a party support role not typically seen in melee DPS.
