    Fishing log/guide update ?

    Gathering/crafting logs got a number of updates recently (since 5.0 i mean).
    Fishing log/guide on the other hand, is pretty much abandoned (as in no upgrade to the system, they still add most of the fishes/fishing points).

    I mean, help text on fishing conditions is pretty much worthless :
    -weather condition -> yes/no/???
    -time condition -> yes/no/??? (i mean, sure, if it says yes, you can use fish eyes)
    -nothing about the bait.
    -no search (inside the fishing guide)
    -no reverse search (from an item to the fishing log) ; some fishes have locations (either everything or just hints) in their description and some don't

    Sure, the discovery is part of the fun ; but once you got them, that's around a thousand fishes to remember. Most people have to look for informations out of game, because the options in game are so limited, even for fishes you already got.

    I understand that it would use ressources to upgrade all theses points, and i'd rather they spend their ressources on better things.

    What really prompted this post, is that it's not even possible to link a fish in chat. i mean, that's not something difficult ; you already got the name, tooltip, icon, an access between the log and guide ; but i can't get a item link to the fish from either ?

    I was encountering the same thing. For Ehll Tou's collectables, the description of the fish gives literally ZERO useful information. Fatty herring, for example.

    "in a blind taste test, three out of four people cannot tell the difference between fatty herring steak and antelope steak"

    That's it. That's all you have to go on. How are we supposed to try and find out where these fish are without using external sources?

    ideally you're supposed to consult your fishing friends/linkshells/fellowships. in reality people need to realize fishing is a niche activity with almost zero utility in this game. it is for leisure/RP/etc. a side hobby. "soft fun"? and seeing really as to how there is a thing called the internet. just use it. get over having to use it.

    Only reason I found them easily was checking all the fishing areas since I had caught everything and seeing new things pop up.

    I agree. It's time for fishing to get the QoL upgrades that mining and botany did. Once you've caught a fish, the fish should show the bait they will bite as well as the tug information, weather conditions, whether snagging is required and whether fish eyes is required. Mooch lines would be useful as well, telling which fish can be mooched and what they can result in. And in-game timers like with timed mining and botany nodes would be great, so we could set these right there in game. Definitely also a search function. With all the fishing holes and spear fishing locations it's onerous to go through them mousing over the fish to find something specific.
