I'll try this when i re-sub next week. Probably worth a shot. I'll letcha know on that front, cheers man.
Much agree, In all the time I've actually played this game, there's never been any problems of this sort. I'm thinking neither did many others. As another player mentioned just before it's unlikely to be hardware related. There's no way that using a powerful card like an RTX 3070 is going to cause problems with this game. I can could run it on a lesser build than i currently have and there was no problem.I 2nd the desire to hear a "We know what's going on and are addressing it" from Devs.
Today is first time loading game back up since I posted on the 9th - and since I still need to enter the firmament, attempted to do so. Today is 4 days from last fatal error crash and my pc has had a software update since last login to FFXIV, I was booted with the exact same error code cited above literally moments after logging in... Until this is addressed I can't play this game, and I don't think we as users should have to pay for a game that you only have partial access to.
Obviously it's not us the users, it looks painstakingly server side.
I'm also in agreement that it's a bit shady for the devs to be dismissing the player base that are experiencing problems. A live service model should have a lot more support. I wouldn't have so much of a problem with this happening if i didn't actually pay to play a game in which that i have paid for.
It's not something I find to be pleasant. And that so many others are landing on the same thread and reporting exactly the same problem with little to no support is verging on being really quite irritating.
The customer support needs to be brought inline with the consumers.
It's absolutely not some random issue and it's not that somebody is playing football with their PC (or using it as a football).
All indications appear to be pointing to a communication issue within the FFXIV client app. If there's a problem, that's definitely where it is. I'm probably correct to assume that in high population areas in the game, this is where most who are experiencing this issue are seeing it happen.
When actually in an instance, the game is typically more stable and even though there are the occasional lags (which also wasn't a problem before), such as what happened in my case when doing roulettes the day. It was fine until mid-instance and then all sorts of lag started happening, rendering it unplayable. It's like the server is getting clogged up or something, other games are running perfectly, online or otherwise. I had to restart the app and it was fine for the rest of that time. However, that it's became more frequent suggests that something is wrong with the server or some kinda code got wrecked.
There's no telling at this point in time because we aren't even getting any sort of confirmation that it is a known issue and is being worked on. There should be attention to that, because it's very much a disincentive to subscribe. After all, who wants to pay the plumber for a busted pipe?
I'll take a gamble on a sub next week and see if that other guy's suggestion of disabling game mode does anything. But it really should not be a gamble for a live service. Simply put, when you pay for access to something, it should be working and it's as simple as that.
I'm really just not going to mince my words in that regard, This is really a bad example for any game company to be setting.
Player
Have you ever received an acknowledgement or resolution from SqE?!?!?
I've noticed that it appears the errors get worse / more frequent during peak times. I can go an entire afternoon infrequent or sometimes no crashes, but as soon as evening hits I can get them back to back within minutes.
Has anyone else made the same observation?
Up to now, I had only experienced this on DirectX11 mode while zoning specifically into The Doman Enclave. But now, I get the same error even on DX9 (which appeared to resolve the Doman Enclave issue) when trying to zone into Rabanastre. Since ive not done that before, it effectively locks me out of the content entirely... and now because neither mode can let me load in, I appear to be locked out of my character, too.

Yeah, seems like something is up with that. It's that it appears to happen more frequently in highly populated zones and that some times it'll hang in there with no crashes at all. And as you say it's like chain-crashes after that.
Nope that's not it.hi OP, if i can just throw a suggestion your way, have you looked at where your monitor cable is plugged into? is it possible that you have plugged the monitor into the motherboard graphics port instead of your AMD radeon graphics port? i only ask because you said you have bought a new computer. goodluck.
As stated before, this issue keeps happening even after every suggestion made both in this thread and other options I've found online. The only thing that seems to partially postpone the issue (ie. crashes still happen but not as frequent) is playing in Standard (Desktop) instead of Maximum for which my PC is specced for. Since I have a few weeks off next week I'mma start from Standard (Desktop) and gradually turn each option up and see if I can find whichever is the one that causes the increase in frequency of crashes....
but it really shouldn't be something that I should be devoting that much time and effort in when we have Tech Support for a pay to play game. Really dissapointed and dissatisfied on that front.
I recommend you reverse the changes recommended by the mods here. If you check page 1-2 when I tried their recommendations the issue got a lot worse for me and went back to normal (ie. crashes every 2 hours which is a hell of a stretch for the word "normal") when I reversed them.
