Also having this same issue, but with I'd crashed quite a bit before but with 5.3 it was gone, then with 5.4 it'd come back and started crashing infrequently, then after latest maintenance I've been crashing every few minutes or so and immediately after talking to the weekly quest npc in Gangos

*knocks on wood* I disabled all overlay items for both Steam and Discord and issue as of now seems to be resolved. I will update if I get a crash after adjusting those settings.

I will try this next. Though honestly it's ridiculous that you have to turn everything other than FFXIV off when the game is almost 8 years old and people are using new high end PCs.

I'm amazed Square still hasn't fixed this issue yet. I just resubbed after a few months and I'm getting constant multiple dx11.exe crashes. I've done literally everything to fix this, I guess the last thing to do is unsubscribe at this rate

Ok, just to be sure, I rebooted my old PC. I did 2 play sessions today of around 2-3 hours each. Got dx11 crashes both times. This was not happening to me at all before 5.45.

Tried disabling Discord and Steam altogether. Set FFXIV's priority to high. Still getting DX11 errors. Tech support hello? I'm honestly reconsidering not renewing my sub next month if this issue continues despite the effort it took me to get a house.

Every time I am in Bozja for more than a few minutes, the game immediately crashes, no matter if I am in Windowed mode, Borderless Windowed or Fullscreen, no matter how my graphics settings are, dx9, dx11, nothing does anything D:

I had the famous dx11 crashes few weeks ago but I manage to solve the problem. It's been 2-3 weeks without dx11 problems. Here's my advices as a user of a laptop using Nvidia :
    • - If you keep crashing on the same content, reinstall the game
    • - Look at the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings > Programs settings :
      1. select FFXIV
      2. change Prefered GPU to "Nvidia High Performance"
      3. change "power management control" to maximum
    • - Update the graphic drivers (not only Nvidia if you run two GPU) through the constructor website
    • - Update the Chipset drivers from the constructor website (I downloaded every drivers about the chipset I found on the website) <--- This point solved my problem
    • - Don't use Nvidia GeForce Experience. It causes more problems on my laptop

Sorry for grammar mistakes and good luck everyone

    Same problem here too :/
Every time I login I'm *instantly* hit with a DX11 error (or just a DX error if i switch 11 off)

I resub, then hours later an ice storm knocks off my power for a few days.
Then I come back to an update which totally screws me over.

    My luck is fantastic.

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EujHeQ8V...png&name=large

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
    AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
    32 GB RAM

Everything was working fine before the update, after the update I did a few pixie dailies and then went to do the dwarf ones and crashed.
And now it's just instantly crashing every time I login.

    ---edit

Finally gave up trying to do thing after thing and just fully reinstalled and now it's fine. We'll see for how long I guess.

    --edit 2

Lol. Well that didn't last long. Got 2 days of playing, then i got the error, and now FF14 won't even load.
It just hangs on launch after the login window.
Look I have a fairly large data cap but if I have to redownload the game every 2 days I'm gonna hit it. :/

    --edit 3

I'm envious of everyone that says they get this error and they can still play
Every time I've got this error, it's been as I cast teleport.
Any subsequent attempts to launch the game give this error immediately after getting in world.
The only solution for me is a full reinstall.

I've zipped up the entire game so I can uninstall/unzip it when this happens but christ this is such a pain.

    --edit 4

They're coming more frequently. Zipping the files failed me for one reason or another, so I had to do a 3rd download.
Making a straight copy, while taking more space, does at least help to recover ff14 back to a playable state by coping over the backup file.
This is nuts but whatever. Hopefully SE fixes this shit sooner rather than later.

    --edit 5

The only place I'm still getting the DX11 errors is in Bozjan. Constantly.
If I can go 5 minutes without getting one while trying to attack I'm lucky.
Unlike the other times I got the error though, I can relaunch fine, but yeah it's just, constant.

    --edit 6

I appear to FINALLY be in the clear. I did the following:
    - Removal of GEFORCE Experience.
    - Clean install of current NVIDIA drivers (it's an option you can pick when installing drivers)
    - Full uninstall of FF14
    - CC cleaner run
    - Full reinstall/download on C drive with NOTHING ELSE running.

I also did not use my backup download folder, so that brings my downloads of this game in the past week up to 4, JFC.

anyway, I hope this helps SOMEONE, that's why i've been going over the dumb shit i've been doing, lol.

Alright so I reduced my graphic quality to Standard (desktop) a day ago and the dx11 error frequency seems to have gone down. It still happens just not as frequent. However that is a non solution since I've tested my PC's specs with the Shb benchmark and got a score of above 12k which means I should be able to play the game at least in High (Desktop) since I was getting 60fps in that setting even in heavily crowded areas (Behemoth was having a Carnaval celebration earlier this week and Gridania was super crowded and the game still run smoothly).

Here is the latest error I got 20 minutes ago if any dev still bothers to check this thread at all (doesn't seem like it since the last reply was on page 1)
