After patch 5.45 , controller would would occasionally ignore input for a second

I've been using controllers to play on PC since ARR but I've only encountered this issue after the patch 5.45 update. The connected controller would occasionally ignore all input for a second to second and a half at random frequency. At first I thought that was due to faulty controller but all my controllers (XBOX ONE, PS4, and PS5 controller) display the same issue. I also thought that it could be due to the cable connected to the controller but changing to different cable didn't help.

Have anyone encountered this issue and if yes then have you determine a fix?

    Thank you in advance.

I've felt this but the dpad down arrow on my controller is also really worn so I just assumed it was my controller getting old. also sometimes the play experience just hits different due to recreational external factors >_>;.

Im like 90% sure my circumstance is due to my local issues but on the off chance, yea basically i dropped my enochian twice on load screen during the 5.4 lvl 80 dungeon because I thought i had switched hotbars only to hit gpose instead as it and umbral soul share an input. Essentially more than once now I've switched crossbars only to realize it didn't take. Again I just put it to user error.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize that you are experiencing difficulties with your controller. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Try using a genuine Xbox360 or Xbox One controller (preferably wired) as these are compatible with Windows OS.
    - Try plugging the controller into different ports (both front and back).
    - Make sure all drivers for the controller are fully up to date.
    - Uninstall and reinstall the device drivers.
    - Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and controller as the only active devices.
    - If you are using a specialized gaming keyboard, try using a different keyboard to ensure there are no conflicts between the devices.
    - Try unplugging all other devices and only plugging in the mouse, keyboard, and controller.
    - Make sure Windows has been fully updated from the Microsoft/Windows Update website.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Not Square-Enix support, obviously, but...

To add to Rhaervis' questions: are you running the Steam or non-Steam version of FFXIV (or running the non-Steam version through Steam)? If so, Steam's also potentially processing the controllers; it might be worth toggling that (try without using it if you are using it, or with using it if you aren't using it) just to see what happens.

(Note: so far as I know, the PS4/Xbox controller configuration/mapping option can only be enabled from the Settings screen in Big Picture mode, which is sort of irritatingly non-intuitive.)

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

I'm having this same exact issue! Tested with a Razer wired controller, as well as a PS4 controller both wired and connected wirelessly through the Sony adaptor. Issue persists whether I load through the launcher as standalone, or launch as non-Steam version through Steam. Only noticed it as of the latest patch, thought either my hardware was failing or I was having some kind of driver incompatibility issue. Has anyone found a work-around yet?

Edit: I found a Reddit post from 5 (!) years ago that seems to have fixed the issue. Go into Device Manager > Software Devices, and disable Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator. Hope this helps OP as well!
