Enhanced optional hall of the novice is always welcome
    Agreed.

Look, I get the issues of savage and ex teams needing to clear, needing competent players. BUT the caveat is that the savage and ex participation rates dont merit this kind of arbitrary roadblock, nor should they. You must clear MSQ to unlock Sage, if your issue is the skip potions, then thats another ball of wax entirely.

I also notice another flaw in the original post, complete this "mandatory content" only once? Or have to do it again and again and again per job?

Just a quick clarification: you don't need MSQ progress to unlock SB/ShB/EW jobs unless you started on the wrong landmass. You can immediately unlock any expansion job on your side of the sea. If and only if you started on the wrong land mass, you need to complete the MSQ up to Lv10 The Envoy so that you can cross the sea to reach the right city.

That is, if you start in Ul'dah/Gridania and want to unlock DNC/SGE or if you start in Limsa Lominsa and want to unlock GNB/RDM/SAM, you need Lv10 MSQ. That's all. If you started on the correct side of the sea, you can immediately buy any job level boost without an MSQ boost and then go straight to the unlock NPC for the job you want.

I think an in-game help/tutorial would be very welcome.
How many player do I see panicking when it comes to healing or tanking while if they were told and learnt some fundamental and how to properly play... they'll notice that playing these are not so demanding or so hard to play.
Also, the fact that they need extra ressource outside of the game itself to actually understand, which can demotivate them.

Tutorials need to be a nice in-game option with simple wording to cover what you're expected to do at an average level

mandatory or not people will still ignore them

a lot of the time people actually don't say anything to people who are clearly playing wrong,
either shy, dumb fear of GM banning them or just to lazy to help.
yes language barrier, new people or just ignorance occurs but actually taking time to help people best you can comes a long way.

    I think it's a pointless idea if it's mandatory

The truth of the matter is you have players that either cannot or will not pay attention to anything said or hammered home no matter how many times it's hammered home.

Secondly, people are inherently lazy you can have this thing that you think is great and they will 99% of the time go the way that takes the least amount of time.

You put them in mandatory forced learning and they will leave. thats just that facts.

Laziness is the mother of invention and shortcuts after all.

It was a pain to gather water so humanity created irrigation and aquaducts

gathering wood was a pain so boiler heating then central heating was invented.

calculating on paper or in our head was a pain so the calculator was made.

    so on and so forth.

IMO, all jobs should have acces to their entire kit no later than 50, with the core rotations in place no later than 30.

Post 50, it should only be faster or improved versions of skills (eg, samurai’ job gauge fills faster)

So, at 50, I would not be opposed to some kind of mechanics trainer.

Hell it could just be a 4 man trust version of certain trials where the mob and the player can’t be killed, but stats are given on how the player dealt damage, healed, or dodged mechanics.

Frankly I think it would be pointless to have this for Expert/Savage.
People who do these while they're relevant most definitely bothered learning how to play through external resources, and those who do it while they're irrelevant while being totally ignorant on how to play are still far and few between, because "Expert" and "Savage" are still attached to them.

Ultimately if people play so poorly, out of ignorance or laziness, that they get kicked or that they cannot clear, then a tutorial should be available for them to learn how to play properly, rather than making the content too easy and allow poor-play to dictate the pace and difficulty for everyone else.

Ideally, there should be a tutorial before they throw people into the game. That is where I'd like to see one...after a character is created, and the main sequence is finished. Maybe make the rushing in to fight Lahabrea a sort of mini boss battle/tutorial, and then once it is finished you wake up on the wagon heading to your respective city-state.

The idea is completely useless as not all bad players are actually bad. Yes, hard to believe but some bad players are really just good players being flat out lazy!!! I have seen players in the DF in full savage properly melded playing like complete trash one moment and playing like a boss the next. Its been said before and I guess it needs to be said again.

Lazy and bad players will play good enough to beat the Hall then go back to playing like trash!! The Halls help get people going that is it, it will never ensure they continue to play good.
