I‘m excited! The colorful areas and the glamours are gonna be fabulous! I love dancers AF gear - can‘t wait for glams similar to that.

True. If I remember the timeline right, Thancred was like 10 when he tried (and failed) to pickpocket Louisoix and ended up functionally adopted instead... and 17 when he returned to Eorzea as a trained Archon of the Circle of Knowing (prior to 1.0's story, back when Ascilla/Minfilia was orphaned). So he had at least seven years of being raised and trained in Sharlayan.Ooo, Sharlayan could be an interesting place to go. I definitely want to see that.
And Packet, Thancred's kind of an honorary Sharlayan too, since Louisoix took him to from Limsa Sharlayan when he was just a kid. I bet his story of his life in that place, not being the scholarly sort as much as the others, would be really interesting.
Which makes me think, I'd actually love to see a little bit of elaboration on that. Considering Louisoix was the twins' grandfather, and Thancred was Louisoix's ward, one has to wonder what relationship -- if any -- those three had back in Sharlayan. I don't think we've really seen that particularly touched on...
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Sharlayan would make a good place for a capitol city than a full adventure zone, since it's all about studies than gallivanting around. I expect it to be a giant, magical-technology advanced (not magitek, more crystal stuff like the Nouliths) University City (or Univer-City).
I'm very excited. Of all the places to feature heavily in this expansion, Rad-at-Han/Thavnair were among my least expected. But also among the places I wanted to go most someday.
I always feared we'd never go. As someone from Ul'dah, I've always been curious about other 'Near Eastern' inspired civilizations, and how they might be similar to different to Ul'dah. I've mixed Thavnair equipment in quite a few of my glamours in the past. And always felt it sad that it would be "unlikely a place we would travel to, outside of maybe a small quest or optional dungeon". Seeing it feature so heavily is something I dreamed of, but never expected.
And it looks even more beautiful than I expected. I anticipated yet another desert location. But it's quite an oasis! It's a really interesting and geographically complex place. If being yet another top heavy City-State.
My major concern is that we're in the biggest apocalyptic scenario we've ever been in, story wise. While Garlemald looks far too devastated to be a region we spend much time it outside of climbing Fandaniel's ominous tower.
I hope the same isn't true of Radz-at-Han. I anticipate it won't be. But I want as much of it to be a long lasting place to visit and explore as possible. I hope it stays relevant for some time.
