FF Youtubers are always wrong

I'd say that it's more to do with SE holding their cards closer to their chests. There was nothing to suggest Sage at all so anyone correctly guessing that would need insider info or a lucky guess. All the speculation videos I saw were based on decent logic which is the best you can ask.

Plus the purpose of these speculation videos isn't really to provide accurate news info (that comes AFTER the announcements) but to stir the discussion among the community, which they do. People want to talk about it and hear others opinions, so it makes sense that content creators put theirs out there.

I’m just surprised that these particular people hold their positions when they get far more things wrong than right though.

Can’t remember which one it was but they were already referring to it as forespoken as though it was a forgone conclusion. Not a single person came close to getting the name right.

Generally, when it comes to Western games, not just mmos, I feel the community has a better idea. Even if they get some things wrong, they’d generally be in the right ball park but I feel these guys can only predict the clearly obvious things that we all see coming from a mile away ourselves.

Mr Happy videos didn’t predict a single thing from this showcase yet he made money from several long videos telling us what we could expect. So I just don’t get the reverence.

Little harsh I think.... I mean they are "Guesses" not like anyone would actually know whats gonna happen in the future. Thats what "Speculation" is, they had nothing to go off of in the 1st place. Did you think any of them had insider leaks and info or something?
They do what every fan of the Community does, they talk and offer ideas, predictions and insight. If thats worthless to you...well.. :/

And I guess this means the FFXIV team and YoshiP shoot past expectations.
We think and expect this...and then they do something else. I think thats good...keep us suprised

FF youtubers are not all knowing, they're just people who like to talk about the game and theorise, none of them claim to know 100% what is going to happen. isn't this better, I prefer to be surprised than know what's coming ahead of time. It was a pleasant surprise to find out the predictions of the next expansion being called forspoken were wrong.

Ok so cheap plug time but I decided to make a video on this (I haven’t named anyone). I’ll not post a link here but if you are interested just search for my username on YouTube.

Anyway in short my response is SO WHAT! Content creators aren’t perfect or psychics who can predict the future and if we were I don’t think we’d be using our powers to predict the title of an MMO expansion.

Content creators do this because they like and/or love doing it. They have fun, they generate buzz, they use the information they have along with what has happened previously to make predictions, the same as what a lot of important jobs do when it comes to trends and fluctuations.

Forspoken was an intelligent choice based in the trademark and timings. Saying that Yoshi-p even said it wasn’t means nothing as why would he confirm the name of the expansion somewhere other than the announcement showcase.

As for Sage, apart from one throwaway piece of lore about Alphi and Alisaie’s father being a Sage there was nothing to suggest that. While even that piece of lore shows Sage as more of a philosophical type of person as opposed to fricking Gundam Doc Ock.

No one was going to get it perfect but everything I watched had solid reasoning behind it. How about for the next one in May me and the OP do a joint predictions video and see how close we both are and then see if they still think it’s a waste of time (as an FYI I do this as a hobby and my prediction video took me close to 4 hours to record and edit)

They make money from it and talk like they are experts. As I said that one guy kept calling it forespoken even when officially denied by Square Enix.

Forget the name of the guy, but he made a long video literally telling us what was ‘likely’ or ‘almost certainly’ going to happen and every single bit of it was wrong.

Someone like Zepla I do have more time for because she is just speculating, but people like Meoni and that guy who’s name I don’t remember do act like they’re somehow special when really they seemingly know less about the games direction than half my casual FC.

Why are you acting like these FFXIV youtubers kicked your dog or something? I'm pretty sure they didn't make any of these imaginary claims of them being special lol. Were you somehow expecting them to be able to 100% predict the future when it comes to FFXIV or something? There's a reason it's called speculating. This honestly just comes off as you being salty because they profit off of streaming the game and make content that surrounds the game.

*If you're a little out of the loop or you couldn't watch a live letter you could watch a video while you're doing the dishes and you get all the info you need
*They're invited by SE to test the content and they release the info we want
*They do Q&A with the devs

I didn’t see them as definite fact. I always doubted that they would be right because they are almost always wrong. And once again they were wrong.

You misunderstand the point of my post. This isn’t me asking why they weren’t right. It’s me asking why they act like they are experts here when they guess everything wrong every single time. And why they can make money doing so. And why people in similar positions for other games have a far better success rate.
